Job Snapshot + Employee Type: Full-Time + Location: Chicago, IL + Job Type: Management Finance + Experience: At least 7 year(s) + Date Posted: 2/25/2019 Job DescriptionThe jobholder oversees the Finance and Controlling functions for the 5 North American underground mines and 4 North American Solar manufacturing plants (including one dotted line responsibility), which have an annual Operating Expense Budget of approximately USD $200million and annual Capital Expense Budget of approximately USD $50 million. The jobholder supervises a team of eight Plant controllers, including one dotted line report. The jobholder coordinates the annual planning cycle and monthly forecasting requirements, reviews and analyzes the manufacturing costs of the facilities, reviews and approves submission of Capital Expense projects and ensures the plants are following K+S directives and externally audited control procedures. ResponsibilitiesPlant cost/variance accounting related month-end close activities: Ensuring all activities are completed and in accordance with the authorized corporate time frame. Perform/review analytical month-end reporting/narrative for management as required. Plant budgets & forecasts: Management of the annual budget cycle including oversight and review of manufacturing cost budgets and reporting to management. Take over all requirements for monthly forecasting based on volume and any spending deviation vs budget. Interaction with Operation staff. Schedule key deadlines and follows up. Insure that documentation is available and proper training is given timely. Inventory systems and valuation: Responsible for plant cycle counts and validity/accuracy of inventory adjustments in concordance with the Company policies. Also includes review and updating of inventory valuation adjustments. Assists the Sr. Manager, Supply Chain Finance & Controlling in ensuring accuracy of inventory transactions, perpetual/ledger reconciliations. Team with the Financial accounting staff: As necessary to provide oversight, assistance, and guidance to plant controllers’ activities such as purchasing / accounts payable issues, fixed assets, expense and capital projects, local regulatory issues etc., as it relates to financial impacts. Assists in any requirement pertaining to External/Internal audits. Manage and develop local plant controllers: Lead recruiting effort for on-site Plant Controller vacancies, manage training & development for potential promotions, succession plans, and insure frequent performance feedback. Participate in strategic development of the plant operations with an emphasis on operating cost performance: Work hand-in-hand with respective operations Sr. Director to determine areas of costs & efficiency savings. Participates to periodic Operation department meetings. Understand drivers of product cost development: Ensure accuracy of yearly and punctual cost roll-ups. Propose and design cost models. CAPEX spending and project system update: Support and review CAPEX spending project calculations done within respective plants. Ensure SAP project systems are maintained and reflect latest status of forecasted spending. Help Manager, CAPEX and Special Project to set priorities in CAPEX spending from ROI, ROCE or need perspective. Prepare ad-hoc Cost analysis and improve the quality on financial information: Report results of special projects given by the Director on a timely basis, along with proper conclusions and recommendations. Revise and update reporting in order to work with the most efficient and timely fashion. QualificationsPlant General Managers, Plant Controllers, external and internal auditors, governmental agencies, corporate office senior leadership and managers. Bachelor degree in Finance or Accounting Professional designation (CPA or MBA preferred) A minimum 7 years of experience in related finance, controlling or accounting fields.
