Job Description

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Identification of requirements and research potentials in connection with effective noise avoidance and reduction, as well as impact and reduction of particles and air pollutants caused by aviation
  • Development, implementation and communication of innovative strategies and interdisciplinary concepts in this area with a view to emission and climate protection
  • Development, implementation and communication of innovative strategies and interdisciplinary concepts for the interlinking of different modes of transport in the areas of mobility and logistics, alternative solutions for mobility requirements, and the shifting of avoidable aviation operations to alternative means of transport
  • Networking and cooperation with stakeholders in business, industry, research, environmental associations and society in general
  • Management and coordination of research projects and model projects
  • Conception and drafting of applications for external funding
  • Support and organisation of committees and of the Competence Centre’s advisory structure with regard to noise and emission issues
  • Project management (e.g. coordination and management of external service providers, progress monitoring, procurement, project billing and verification management)



  • Subject-specific university studies relating to sustainability and climate protection in aviation
  • Of advantage: relevant work experience in the fields of environmental issues and sustainability (science, NGOs, associations, public authorities or industry) and the management or coordination of multi-annual large-scale projects or research projects (incl. budget management) in the area of environment and sustainability
  • Interest in solving questions related to the future of society, and in strategies for the effective interlinking of ecological, social and economic targets
  • Willingness to tackle new and unfamiliar topics
  • Very good knowledge in at least two of the following fields: emission protection or climate protection in connection with transport, environmental impacts of aviation, sustainable mobility or sustainable logistics
  • Very strong conceptual skills and interdisciplinary competence (technology, natural and social sciences)
  • Of advantage: basic knowledge of, and initial experience with, change management
  • Marked aptitude for the creation and cultivation of, and participation in, networks with business, science, society and NGOs
  • Pronounced teamwork and communication skills, open-mindedness
  • High degree of organisational skills and strong sense of responsibility, experience in project management
  • Integrity, reliability, resilience, very high commitment level and flexibility
  • Business fluent English, other foreign languages would be of advantage
  • Sound EDP user knowledge (particularly MS Office)
  • Readiness to travel, intercultural competence, confident manner


The position is a full-time job. The workplace is in Frankfurt am Main (House of Logistics & Mobility). However, the company reserves the right, with due consideration of operational and personal concerns, to transfer the workplace to another location.

Depending on qualifications and experience, remuneration will be based on salary groups 12-14 of Appendix 1B of the TV-H (collective agreement for public sector employees in Hessen) in its currently valid version.
