T&D is the steward of roughly $19 billion in assets that safely and reliably deliver electricity to 15 million residents via SCE’s 5 million customer accounts. **Position Overview** This position is an Engineer 2 within the Interconnection Capacity Analysis (ICA) group in Southern California Edison (SCE) 's Transmission & Distribution (T&D) Organization. This is a group of Engineers responsible for performing simulated power flow analysis on SCE’s 4,500+ distribution circuits to determine where distributed energy resources (DER), such as solar and energy storage, can be interconnected with minimal impacts. The successful candidate will serve as an Engineer focusing on the development and improvement of the ICA methodology and process, while collaborating with a variety of internal partners and stakeholders. In addition, the candidate will work with IT Teams to publish ICA to SCE’s Distribution Resource Plan External Portal at . As part of the ICA group, the candidate will work within the Distribution Technical Study and Tariff Support group, which is responsible for performing DER interconnection studies, and revising SCE’s interconnection processes to align with regulatory guidance. This position will report directly to the Engineering Manager of the Interconnection Capacity Analysis group, rolling up to the Integrated System Analysis (ISA) department under the Asset Management Strategy and Engineering (AMS&E) Organization of T&D. **Typical Responsibilities** + Ensure the accurate and timely completion of Interconnection Capacity Analysis by performing quality control and data integrity checks on power flow models + Evaluate the validity of ICA results, identify and resolve issues + Assist in the maintenance of Python scripts and databases utilized to perform Interconnection Capacity Analysis + Support the development of ICA business process documentation + Provide technical support to internal and external customers as a subject matter expert + Provide training and guidance on programs and initiatives to various stakeholder groups + Maintain a safety conscious work environment by following Edison’s safety protocols and safe work practices in addition to providing support with all other duties assigned **Qualifications** **Minimum Qualifications** + Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering or Computer Science + Two (2) or more years of Engineering experience + Experience with computer programming concepts + Experience with electric utility distribution system planning and equipment **Desired Qualifications** + Experience in the area of power system engineering analysis, including knowledge of electrical engineering principles and practices + Experience with Python and SQL scripting + Experience using Eaton CYME power flow analysis software + Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Visio + Experience preparing detailed engineering studies and reports + Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to deliver and explain complex technical concepts in simple terms to both technical and non-technical personnel + Ability to influence others and maintain positive working relationships + Ability to stay current with relevant technology and innovation **Comments** + Candidates for this position must be legally authorized to work directly as employees for any employer in the United States without visa sponsorship. + Position may require traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory + This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation.
