The Logistics and Procurement Manager directs and coordinates purchasing, warehousing, distribution and financial forecasting services or activities to limit costs and improve accuracy, customer service, and safety as well as oversight of the movement, storage, and processing of inventory. Responsibilities also include examining existing procedures or opportunities for streamlining activities to meet product distribution needs.
Essential Job Functions
+ Select transportation routes to maximize economy by combining shipments or consolidating warehousing and distribution
+ Diagram supply chain models
+ Develop material costs forecasts or standard cost lists
+ Assess appropriate material handling equipment needs and staffing levels to load, unload, move, inventory and store materials
+ Appraise vendor manufacturing ability utilizing on-site visits and measurements when necessary.
+ Negotiate prices and terms with suppliers, vendors, and freight forwarders
+ Monitor supplier performance to assess ability to meet quality, appropriate lead times and delivery requirements
+ Monitor forecasts and quotas to identify changes or to determine their effect on supply chain activities
+ Meet with suppliers to discuss performance metrics, to provide performance feedback, and to discuss production forecasts or changes
+ Implement new or improved supply chain processes
+ Collaborate with other departments, such as sales, procurement, engineering, and quality assurance, to identify or qualify new suppliers
+ Develop or implement procedures or systems to evaluate or select suppliers
+ Analyze information about supplier performance or procurement program success
+ Document physical supply chain processes, such as workflows, cycle times, position responsibilities, and system flows
+ Design or implement warehousing strategies for production material storage and flow
+ Confer with dept. heads to forecast demand or create supply plans that ensure availability of materials or products
+ Define performance metrics for measurement, comparison, or evaluation of supply chain factors, such as product cost or quality
+ Analyze inventories to determine how to increase inventory turns, reduce waste, and optimize customer service
+ Participate in the coordination of engineering changes, product line extensions, or new product launches to ensure orderly and timely transitions in material or production flow
+ Manage activities related to strategic or tactical purchasing, material requirements planning, inventory control, warehousing, and receiving
+ Develop procedures for coordination of supply chain management with other functional areas, such as sales, marketing, finance and quality assurance
+ Design or implement supply chains that support business strategies adapted to changing market conditions, new business opportunities, or cost reduction strategies
+ Conduct or oversee the conduct of life cycle analyses to determine the environmental impacts of products, processes, or systems
+ Design, implement, or oversee product take back or reverse logistics programs to ensure products are recycled, reused, or responsibly disposed
+ Evaluate and select information or other technology solutions to improve tracking and reporting of materials or products distribution, storage, or inventory
+ Identify opportunities to reuse or recycle materials to minimize consumption of new materials, minimize waste, or to convert wastes to by-products
+ Investigate or review the carbon footprints and environmental performance records of current or potential storage and distribution service providers
+ Provide leadership and guidance to a team of warehouse and inventory personnel within the supply chain
+ Ensure safety procedures and regulations are followed and records are accurate and comply with all appropriate standards
+ Implement and maintain quality assurance metrics to include purchase orders, order policy adherence, and supplier quality
+ Establishes and manages procedures on maintaining and updating O&M materials
+ Capable of demonstrating sound judgment and independent decision-making
+ Ability to set and drive to goals and measurable objectives
+ Ability to give and take constructive feedback in a positive way
+ Strong written, verbal and presentation communication skills, with ability to articulate clearly
+ Ability to drive corrective action and find solutions in a team effort

+ Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or related field required OR 5 plus years in solar procurement and APICS certification
+ 5-7 years supply chain experience required
+ Previous supervision or management experience
+ Inventory planning systems experience required
+ Must have a clean driving record (example, no DUI in the last 5 years)
+ Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment criminal, driving and drug screen
+ Must have a valid state driver’s license
+ Days can have irregular hours, and the job often requires travel (up to 75%) to various locations in the supply chain

+ While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
+ The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and move objects up to 70 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
