The successful candidate will compute full waveform seismic models and use other advanced techniques to investigate the potential seismic properties of icy ocean worlds in the solar system, such as Europa, Enceladus, Titan, Ganymede and Callisto. Model results will be interpreted in the context of understanding the properties of near-surfaces and deeper interiors - thermal, rheological, and chemical - and indicators of different types of anticipated activity. A part of the work will also consist in aiding in analyses for the InSight mission to Mars. In addition to working with the primary advisor, Dr. Steven Vance at https://science.jpl.nasa.gov/people/Vance/ , the candidate will also work closely with JPL scientist Dr. Mark Panning at https://science.jpl.nasa.gov/people/Panning/ .
