Atmospheric Sci EClass Code Part-Time Affiliate Faculty Position SummaryThe Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences (EAS) at the MetropolitanState University of Denver is seeking affiliate faculty (Category III) toteach courses in SCI 2610, Integrated Physical and Chemical Sciences,and/or SCI 2600, Integrated Biology and Earth Science. Duties/ResponsibilitiesQualified applicants will teach SCI 2610, examines the nature of energy andmatter, their interactions and changes, and the application of fundamentalscientific concepts to the study the natural world. These concepts areexplored through hands-on laboratory experiments that focus on the basicprinciples of physics and chemistry. SCI 2600, Integrated Biology and EarthScience, and/or SCI 2610, Integrated Physical and Chemical Sciences.SCI 2600 surveys the fundamental scientific principles and systems in biologyand the earth sciences by examining the basic building blocks of life,evolution of life, the human body, structure and development ofecosystem, terrestrial formations and surface processes, atmosphericprocesses, the solar system, as well as the universe. SCI 2600 includeslaboratory experiments that focus on biology and the earth sciences.Further information can be found on the EAS and University websites (e.g.,search the University Catalog).The successful candidate will be willing and able to work and interact with adiverse population of students, faculty, and staff and should be sensitiveto the educational needs of a diverse urban population.Affiliate faculty are part-time, at-will employees hired to teach on a percredit hour basis for specific classes, as needed, usually on a semesterby semester basis. Affiliate faculty are not covered under the University'sbenefit program. Teaching assignments are dependent on both budget andenrollment. An affiliate faculty member's duties include: meetingassigned classes or delivering on-line content consistent with university,college/school, and departmental policies; providing instruction inassigned classes consistent with the content and learning objectives of theregular course syllabus and, if appropriate, with department coursecoordination policies; being available, either face to face orelectronically, to students in assigned classes to provide additionalacademic support as needed and appropriate for the teaching assignment; andcomplying with university-wide student evaluation of instruc
