Ameresco has positions available for new graduates in mechanical or electrical engineering with demonstrated interest in energy efficiency and renewable technology to assist with the development and implementation of energy savings projects. This position will be located at Parris Island, SC or Aiken, SC. RESPONSIBILITIES: + Develop deep familiarization with installed equipment and controls at existing project sites. + Support existing industrial scale heating & generation plant operations and troubleshooting, including low and medium voltage power systems, PLC-based controls and instrumentation, electrical protection systems, and network communications. + Assist in routine internal equipment and system evaluations, as well as post-contingency causal analysis, including identifying deficiencies, necessary system or control updates, safety and technical code requirements. + Support development and ongoing review of standard operating procedures + Support emergency troubleshooting and outage response for installed equipment, including generation, review and validation of non-scripted procedures and sequences necessary to sustain operations during contingencies or equipment failures. + Monitor and preserve contractual performance requirements to client in all actions. + Conduct data analysis, as required, to ensure customer systems and equipment are functioning, performing as intended, and delivering energy saving results per contractual requirements + Compile data and identify trends required to document performance + Cooperatively coordinate and collaborate with internal teams, including project development, design, construction, measurement and verification, and operations and maintenance. + Provide local engineering guidance for internal and client operations and maintenance teams. + Cultivate and maintain effective business relationships with existing vendors and service providers, and with on-site customer and corporate staff. + Maintain compliance with company, industry, trade, and jurisdictional safety standards, practices, codes. + Perform other duties as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: + BSEE or equivalent four-year technical engineering degree from an ABET accredited institution. + Coursework and/or experience related to electrical power systems and analysis, engineering design, with exposure to facility operations and electrical installation projects involving co-generation, engine-generators, renewable energy (e.g. solar photovoltaic), heating & cooling plants & systems, lighting, motors, building and industrial controls and instrumentation, and automation technologies. ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: + 5 plus years of field or equivalent experience with electrical systems such as solar systems, power plants and electrical equipment including distribution systems. Battery/microgrid system experience a plus. + Excellent verbal, written, computer, technical data, spreadsheet, and communication and organizational skills. + MS Office proficiency required with advanced Excel and Word experience preferred. + Proven ability to manage and complete multiple tasks in a timely, cost-effective manner. + Strong verbal, written, and computer communication skills. + Valid Drivers’ License issued by state of residence and in good standing + Will be required to pass security clearance investigation. + Occasional regional travel required. + Infrequent after-hours / on-call duties will be required.
