Ameresco is currently seeking a Project Development Manager to work with Ameresco’s Eastern Solar Development Team. This position is located at our company headquarters in Framingham, MA. Key Responsibilities: Assess and screen distributed-scale solar and storage project opportunities for economic, regulatory, and technical feasibility – focusing sales and engineering resources on the most viable opportunities that meet competitive market prices; Manage proposal development and delivery for specific solar PV opportunities, either responding to Request for Proposals, Request for Qualifications, or sales account executives’ originated projects; Lead development process for awarded solar projects from contract through construction start, managing project budgets, pro formas and schedules; Creatively and responsibly solve challenges that affect project profitability and/or viability; Manage internal and external resources to execute development phase tasks, including site due diligence and site design, utility interconnection, engineering, permitting, stakeholder outreach, real estate agreements, and structured tax agreements, on time and on budget; Present and meet with municipal boards, executives, and authorities having jurisdiction to negotiate Power Purchase Agreements, tax agreements, site plan approvals, zoning variances, and other required permits; Foster effective and positive business relationships with all parties throughout project phases; Analyze key project details such as utility data, facility profiles, site drawings, and system operating data; Ensure compliance with company, industry, trade, and jurisdictional safety standards, practices, codes; and Perform other duties as required. Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree Minimum 4 years proven business development experience cultivating, developing, and securing Solar PV Grid-Tie installation projects for commercial and industrial customers. Preferred Requirements: Master’s Degree a plus. Intrinsically motivated self-starter who thrives in a collaborative environment. Ability to synthesize market trends and constraints in order to minimize risk and focus on the most promising and profitable opportunities. Ability to anticipate and adapt strategy to changing regulatory environments. Demonstrated problem solving capabilities. Functional knowledge of Power Purchase Agreements, Structured Tax Agreements, and Land Leases. Ability to lead project development team efforts within a cross-functional organization. Ability to negotiate complex agreements with multiple stakeholders. Ability to prepare and analyze project financial proformas for profitable project development. Ability to gather, validate, and analyze quantitative data and information. Ability to understand complex energy regulations affecting market opportunities and sales growth. Advanced proficiency with MS Office Suite, including Excel. Excellent verbal, written, computer communication and presentation skills. Valid Drivers’ License issued by state of residence and in good standing.
