**The job …**
As a member of the Strategy & Corporate Development team at Edison International (EIX), you will help us lead strategic planning, innovation, and sustainability activities for EIX and its companies. You will work across all areas of our team supporting strategic planning, business development efforts, growth& innovation initiatives, and advancement of the company’s environmental, social, and governance (ESG)/sustainability priorities, to translate this work into actionable strategies and scalable investment or partnership opportunities.

You will play a key role in advancing strategic objectives of EIX, with responsibility for quantitative and qualitative analyses, including (but not limited to) monitoring/research of industry trends in the energy sector; development of strategies and scenarios; incubation and testing of new ideas and business models; scanning the ecosystem of early-stage cleantech companies; evaluation and due diligence of new venture investment opportunities or partnerships; and tracking of clean infrastructure markets such as solar, wind and energy storage.
More broadly, you will help shape our company’s overall strategy, leveraging your awesome analytical, problem-solving, strategic thinking and creativity skills to help the team. In the role, you will showcase your influencing skills by presenting for senior EIX team members, including members of the C-suite and EIX’s executive board.
**Detailed stuff you’ll be doing:**
**Strategy Development and Internal Consulting.** You’ll support EIX’s Strategic Planning function in several ways:
+ Play the role of project manager for new strategic initiatives and perform industry, market, and technology research to support development of new strategies
+ Provide insights on industry themes, scenarios, and hypotheses to business leaders of EIX subsidiaries
+ Conduct independent, in-depth analysis of complex business problems, and present findings and recommendations to senior leaders
+ Support the company’s sustainability program, including development of frameworks & governance, coordination of initiatives, tracking & reporting of sustainable activities, and communication efforts
**Evaluation of New Markets & Opportunities.** You’ll be looking at the latest market trends, innovative business models, emerging growth opportunities and cutting edge startups to map the space we’ll play in.
+ Conduct market research and analyze key sectors to get insights on trends, changing customer segments, new business models, disruptive technologies and early-stage companies/startups
+ Contribute to sourcing of ideas, help evaluate new business opportunities within our portfolio of ideas, and create and execute on plans for how to test our key assumptions
**Opportunity Development and Incubation.** You’ll work hands-on in the hypothesis-testing and continuous iteration of ideas / business concepts, to keep moving a pipeline of ideas through our portfolio.
+ Interact with startups to explore potential partnerships or early/growth-stage investments
+ Put together quick financial models to test our business growth and profitability assumptions
+ Conduct interviews with customers or other market participants, help us iterate new business concepts
**Growth Opportunities and Business Development.** You’ll closely follow the energy sector’s market landscape to track at-scale growth opportunities, and you’ll support the potential execution of initial opportunities to build conviction.
+ Monitor key infrastructure, service and technology markets for potential new growth for EIX, source and evaluate new business and investment opportunities with a strategic lens.
+ Conduct financial modeling (e.g., valuation, forecasts, project finance, etc.) and apply critical thinking, problem-solving skills and data-driven analysis to assess growth opportunities for EIX leadership consideration
**Qualifications you need …**
+ You have a Bachelors degree or higherin business, economics, finance, engineering, or a related discipline.
+ You have three (3) or more years of experience across corporate strategy, innovation and/or development, management consulting, venture capital, investment banking, or equivalent functional experience at a fast-paced, innovative startup or corporate innovation group.
**Other stuff that will set you up for success …**
+ You have an advanced degree in business, economics, finance, engineering, or a related discipline.
+ Being comfortable in an unstructured work environment and able to cut through uncertainty to proactively move ideas forward
+ Two (2) or more years of experience in strategy, product or business development or innovation.
+ Experience communicating complex analyses and information to senior management.
+ Experience, knowledge and/or a strong curiosity in energy, e-mobility and clean technologies
