The Network Architect designs, implements, administers, and supports Clearway’s network systems and reports to the Director of Operations, IT. Responsibilities include network design, fault and performance resolution, network maintenance and upkeep, development of processes, procedures, tools, and documentation in support of the day-to-day network operations, and coordination of the production team’s daily activities.
Preferred location is Houston, TX but will also consider Scottsdale, AZ.
+ Evaluate, design implement and manage network infrastructure in collaboration with Cyber Security team ensuring security, integrity and high availability of enterprise systems and related components.
+ Lead technical support and implementation for meeting network infrastructure objectives.
+ Collaborate with other technical teams and client base to design technical requirements for the production environment.
+ Ensure segregation of duties remains intact in all network / application interactions.
+ Work with leadership to identify opportunities to improve and enhance systems.
+ Facilitate requirements gathering efforts and clearly document system requirements.
+ Coordinate the documentation of functional and technical design specifications.
+ Design and document network administration policies and procedures for the production environment.
+ Perform inventory management, budgeting, and lifecycle management of all network hardware, software, and licenses.
+ Ensure documentation, including network drawings, IP address records, and status trackers are kept up-to-date at all times.
+ Develop and execute implementation plans for formal and informal projects and initiatives.
+ Ensure network management tools are kept up-to-date.
+ Perform periodic self-assessments/audits of all aspects relating to networks within all IP environments.
+ Help build business cases to support expenditures.
+ Train and mentor junior personnel
+ Responsible for day-to-day network support related functions
+ Coordinate outages and planned changes to the environment through standardized processes.
+ Implement and maintain secure remote access solutions and third-party access.
+ Regularly report status and raise issues/risks as appropriate. Anticipate and adjust for problems and roadblocks while eliminating roadblocks within control.
+ Coordinate On-Call duty, change control, ticket queue, and troubleshooting of issues until resolution.
+ Work with network carriers and vendors on trouble-tickets and open orders.
Knowledge and Skills:
+ Advanced level of knowledge/skills in the areas below, unless otherwise noted.
+ SD-WAN technologies, Routers, Switches and firewalls. Wireless Access points, VOIP, QOS, MPLS, BGP, IPSec, 3DES, AES, IKE, DMVPN, AnyConnect, Full Tunnel/Split Tunnel Client VPN Solutions, Site to Site VPN Solutions, virtual Machines
+ Microsoft Azure or AWS.
+ Network Architect role.
+ Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet Firewalls, Routers and Switches.
+ Understanding of scripting and code.
+ NERC CIP and other compliance requirements and implementation.
+ Sizing and ordering circuits
+ Ability to prioritize workload.
+ Excellent troubleshooting, problem resolution and organizational skills required.
+ Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of organization.
+ Ability to work well under pressure, remaining focused and calm in the face of distractions, changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
+ Detail oriented, self-starter with strong interpersonal skills.
Education and Experience:
+ Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
+ A minimum of 10 years network design and support experience with minimum of 2 years in an Architect role.
+ Understanding of project management and supervisory methodologies
+ Experience leading a team formally or informally.
+ CCNP or CCNP Security required.
Physical Requirements / Working Requirements:
+ Must be able to lift 30 lbs.
+ Valid driver’s license, ability to attend meetings and respond to network problems at various remote sites when necessary
+ Office, plant, and data center visits required
+ Some after-hours support required
+ On-Call duty required
+ Supervisory experience preferred
+ Expected travel 10%
