This individual will be responsible for the commercial management and administration of all state and local community solar incentive programs. Position will coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that Clearway’s community solar projects in all phases of development and operation are compliant with program guidelines and eligible for the full benefit of the program incentives. She/He will drive improvements both internally and with the state agencies that regulate and administer incentive programs. This position will develop processes and systems that provide a structured, scalable, and transparent approach to managing existing and future programs and will work extensively across functional teams at Clearway to execute program requirements effectively and timely across a high growth portfolio of community solar projects. This position will be based on Scottsdale, AZ (preferred) or San Francisco, CA Principle Responsibilities/Key Results Areas + End-to-end responsibility for ensuring Clearway’s community solar projects in all phases of development and operation are compliant with incentive reservations, incentive program guidelines, underlying regulations, and applicable tariffs. + Researching and understanding requirements for incentive program participation; serving as a subject matter expert on the incentive programs’ guidelines and requirements. + Supporting project development and acquisition activities by reviewing opportunities for incentive program compliance. + Working with external affairs and business development teams during market entry to understand and map out compliance requirements in new markets. + Coordinating with Clearway’s Project Finance, Legal, Development, Origination, Tax, and External Affairs teams to address financing partners’ diligence questions regarding incentive program structures. + Preparing recommendations for internal and external stakeholders to optimize project economics within applicable program constraints or resolve compliance issues. + Gathering inputs and documentation required for project registration and compliance; including tracking milestones and formulating working plans to ensuring all program requirements are met. + Synthesizing and distilling program requirements into digestible training materials for distinct internal stakeholders. + Translating program requirements into tools and processes for use across various Clearway teams. + Working with internal stakeholders to ensure that new tools and processes are embedded into Clearway’s existing workflows ensuring compliance and full monetization of incentives. + Coordinating with the external affairs team to influence state agencies and utilities who administer the programs to ensure that company and industry feedback gets built into their process. + Participating in stakeholder processes, in coordination with the external affairs team, to ensure that CEG project/portfolio needs are captured as program requirements and processes evolve. + Portfolio-wide, end-to-end management of refundable deposits required under incentive programs. Requirements Knowledge & Skills + Understanding of the solar project lifecycle, including development and operations + Knowledge of renewable energy policies across different US jurisdictions + Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. + Intellectual curiosity with an ability to synthesise new material quickly + Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex issues to audiences at all levels both internal and external to the company. + Ability to identify issues of importance to the company, take initiative to develop strategies and recommendations and obtain consensus and review within a matrix organizational environment. + Ability to think creatively, manage competing priorities, work independently, and pay attention to detail + Ability to occasionally work extended hours to meet project deadlines + Ability to occasionally travel overnight to company or project locations (up to 15%) + Team player, willingness to work in collaboration with other teams from other functional groups. + Expertise with Microsoft Office software, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Proficiency with MS Visio or other process mapping tool is highly desirable. Experience & Education + Bachelor’s in Finance, Business, Economics, Public Policy, or related field. Master’s degree highly preferred + 5+ years of renewable energy industry experience in a project development, project administration, business administration, project management, asset management, contract administration, deal execution, project finance or other commercial role + Demonstrated experience independently managing high-value contracts, such as renewable energy project incentive awards, interconnection positions, or power purchase agreements + Experience developing and managing tools, processes, and procedures + Experience reading complex policy documentation and translating to business requirements + Prior project/program management experience
