Purpose This role sits within the Onshore Asset Management Team (Environmental Management and Compliance Section) of our Renewables function.The main purpose of this role is to support the Environmental Management and Compliance Manager in the delivery, monitoring and management of ScottishPower Renewables (SPR) Onshore Environmental Management System (ISO14001). You will support the Project Pipeline, with a specific focus on Construction projects and take responsibility for environmental management aspects of these projects. In addition, there will be a requirement to support our Operational Portfolio, as and when required. You will have responsibility to ensure that the Construction portfolio (Onshore windfarms, solar and battery storage) and Operational activities complies with SPR environmental management standards, ISO14001 and legal requirements. The position may require travel to various locations in the UK and Ireland. Responsibilities + Provide expert technical environmental support and guidance regarding the development & construction of onshore wind & solar generation and battery storage projects + Provide expert knowledge of environmental legislation as it relates to Construction projects and the Operational portfolio to ensure compliance and to minimise business risk at the same time, promoting best practice + Contribute to the identification & management of environmental risks, issues & impacts associated with construction projects and proactively manage these through collaboration with the Project Teams and external contractors to minimise risk to the business and promote best practice + Lead the assessment, through detailed site inspections and audits, of construction activities against SPR environmental management requirements, ISO14001, compliance / legal requirements and contractors Project Environmental Management documentation to ensure ongoing compliance + Lead the technical assessment and auditing of environmental monitoring programs (eg Water Quality Monitoring) undertaken by external consultants on SPR sites. + Responsibility for supply chain management with regards to SPR environmental management requirements for works associated with construction projects, providing expert technical environmental support and guidance. + Responsible for reviewing contractor’s documentation and engage with external suppliers and contractors to ensure compliance with SPR environmental management standards, ISO14001 and legal requirements + Provide expert technical environmental support and guidance to the Operations and Maintenance Team + Support the delivery of the internal Environmental audit program - leading audits where required. + Support input to annual Sustainability Reporting through the gathering and analysis of data and production of submission information. Skills and Requirements We are looking for an individual with proven environmental management technical skills and experience, construction site experience, with well -developed communication and influencing skills. + Proven experience of environmental management, including working knowledge of ISO 14001, environmental auditing (preferably construction sites), dealing with the environmental regulator, ideally within a commercially focused utility or construction business. + Proven experience of managing and influencing contractors. + Knowledge of current and developing environmental legislation is essential. + Educated to a degree level in a relevant environmental qualification is essential. + A Masters in a relevant environmental qualification is highly desirable. + An Environmental Auditing qualification is highly desirable. + Membership of Professional body relevant to this role is essential. + Strong influencing and consulting/communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate relevant technical detail to a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders + Commercially astute and politically aware with excellent written and verbal communication skills. + Sound planning and analysis skills-anticipate problems and plan solutions. + Ability to work co-operatively in a team as well as independently To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate as a minimum: + Current valid driving licence + Computer Literacy & working knowledge of Microsoft word/ excel + Degree (or equivalent) in an environmental discipline + Membership of Professional body relevant to this role + Relevant experience within Environmental Sector + Working knowledge of Environmental Management Systems including environmental auditing + In-depth knowledge of current and developing environmental legislation. + Ability to travel in the UK/Ireland and International What we Offer This is a Permanent contract. Salary for this role will be from a minimum of £40,080 per annum as well as performance related bonus of up to 10%.
