As a Project Controls Manager you will play a key role in the providing timely and accurate project controls reporting and communicating to management for EPC power delivery and renewable energy projects. This hands-on role will give you the opportunity to directly interface with the design, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams to ensure the path of construction is supported.
Kiewit Power Delivery (KPD) provides direct-hire construction services for Power Delivery Services utilizing organized and open shop labor force. Kiewit Power Delivery throughout North America currently consists of Transmission & Distribution, Wind and Solar Projects. All of Kiewit Power is committed to Kiewit’s “Nobody Gets Hurt” Philosophy.
This position is based out of Lenexa, KS and requires a monthly visit to the project site.
+ Responsible for managing design quantities, and incorporating any changes from estimate into all quantity, cost, and schedule reporting.
+ Manage a project controls team, including an engineering and construction scheduler, a cost analyst, and discipline focused Advanced Work Packaging team.
+ Responsible for providing timely and accurate project controls reporting and communication to management for EPC and construct only projects (primarily renewable energy and power delivery).
+ Reporting includes earned value schedule progress, cost vs budget, cost and schedule forecasting, and scope change throughout the project for both construction, engineering, and start up.
+ Support supervision through development, preparation and maintenance of forecasts, schedules and Executive Management Summary Reports using knowledge of construction and engineering principles and concepts.
+ Analyze work progress and craft productivity reports, use this analyze to update project forecast.
+ Interface with other construction departments to provide scheduling data for items such as subcontract change requests, bid comparisons, change order estimates, and resolutions of potential schedule/work problems.
+ Perform critical path and time impact analysis to document current conditions and change management on the project.
+ Lead a team focused on work packaging. Ensure all work packages support construction sequence.
+ Bachelor’s degree in Civil/ Mechanical / Electrical Engineering
+ Three years’ experience as a Project Controls Manager, Project Engineer, or Scheduling Manager. Post bachelor’s experience (3 years with a Master’s or 5 years with a Bachelor’s) is required and must include:
+ Preparing monthly cost reports & cost forecasts, including earned value analysis by Work Breakdown Structure, actual spent hours & cost, overall & detailed budget versus cost comparison, forecasted cost at project completion & identification of cost & schedule overrun risk.
+ Scheduling: Preparing Primavera P6 resource loaded schedules, update activities, organize & coordinate interactive planning sessions.
+ Estimating: Utilize estimating software to prepare engineering & construction estimates, including quantity take-off of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, structural & civil scope of work using Process & Instrumentation Diagrams, mechanical equipment lists, instrumentation lists, engineering drawings, material specifications & engineering specifications; Developing key performance indicators, statistics & compare baseline historical data with current data to study variances.
+ Startup and Commissioning: Developing the system turnover, startup & commissioning schedule, tracking & maintain progress of systems based on startup systems identified on process and instrumentation diagrams & project contract requirements.
