The NASA Outreach Coordinator will play a major role in the K-12 and public educational opportunities of the Arkansas Space Grant Consortium (ASGC) and Arkansas NASA EPSCoR Programs. Position reports to the ASGC Director. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
+ Primary lead of the statewide effort towards the 2024 Total Solar Eclipse;
+ Maintain grant accounts for student internships, student scholarships, and public or educational outreach awards;
+ Attend monthly Board meetings;
+ Process grants awarded by the Arkansas Space Grant Consortium for the 2 year colleges, and student internships, and outreach activities;
+ Organize state wide Professional Development Outreach opportunities for K-12 educators;
+ Attend STEM related events around the state of Arkansas as an Arkansas Space Grant Consortium Representative;
+ Assist in writing national proposals, statewide call for proposals, and final reports;
+ Assist with the organization of statewide conference for researchers or hands on workshops. Tasks include preparing agendas for multiple sessions meetings, create nametags, abstract booklets, certificates, and other handouts;
+ Maintain website and other social media outlets;
+ Travel to National/Regional meetings as needed;
+ Perform other duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
+ Possess organizational skills;
+ Computer skills including e-mail, Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access;
+ Communication skills including public speaking and the ability to interact with people of diverse ethnic background;
+ Science Outreach experience;
+ Writing skills.
Required Education and/or Experience
The formal education equivalent of an Associate degree in Biology. At least ten (10) years experience in the STEM field and five (5) years of educational outreach in any science field.
