This requisition may be filled at either a Principal Electrical Engineer (level 3) or a Senior Principal Electrical Engineer (level 4). Principal Electrical Engineer duties and responsibilities: - Based on specific stated objectives perform analysis of complex battery systems. - Without detailed direction, decompose system level requirements and related performance criteria to the battery system level. - Develop a performance specification and subcontract statement of work. - Lead the effort to incorporate a wide range of battery architectures into a variety of Northrop Grumman satellite systems. - With general direction, plan, prepare and complete all design and development activities and provide technical oversight to subcontractors. - Perform all detailed analysis and follow up to assure compliance with all technical, program and contractual requirements. - Develop a detailed test program to evaluate battery systems in accordance with stated requirements. - Responsiblefor technical, cost and schedule performance for a variety of space-flight battery development and procurement efforts. - Participate in pre-proposal cost and technical assessments. - Participate in internal customer and external subcontract design reviews. - Design electronic circuits with digital and analog functionality for spacecraft applications. Select components with suitable radiation qualities. Interact with other team members and software group to determine interfaces and operating characteristics. Generate documentation and review packages for flight boards. - Test and debug boards. Bench level verification of board functionality. Work either individually or as part of a team to develop test procedures and hardware to verify breadboards, engineering models, and flight units. - Work with fabrication team on board layout and build. Define layout constraints and provide oversight to board layout personnel. Support board through manufacturing of breadboards, engineering modBasic Qualifications: - Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related STEM field - U.S. citizen - 5 years of related experience (level 3) or 9 years of related experience (level 4) Preferred Qualifications: - Experience with Requirements Verification using DOORS - Schematic Entry and circuit analysis (WCA, PSA, FMEA). - Lab experience that includes testing and working with test equipment. - Solid background and understanding of power electronics (power switching, DC/DC conversion, battery charge control, solar array power interface) - Understanding of digital and mixed signal circuit design - Familiarity with spaceflight electronics development. - Strong verbal and written communications skills - Strong interpersonal skills - A passion for space and space technology Northrop Grumman is committed to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce.
