Position Overview:

Do you have a passion for developing new sales, have previous experience in renewables and want to be part of the growing energy storage industry? SimpliPhi Power is looking for technically minded, positive, goal-oriented salespeople to foster new business relationships and support our core values to provide safe, secure power to people around the world.

Sales Application Engineers (SAE) are responsible for directly contributing to and meeting the company’s revenue and growth goals, including monthly, quarterly and annual sales projections by identifying opportunities, establishing partnerships and winning projects specific to the use of energy storage systems. The SAE will have direct ownership in supporting development projects, defining and managing cross-functional revenue generating opportunities and working with regulatory and advocacy bodies to support expansion of energy storage in multiple markets and application scenarios. SAE’s are expected to have extensive technical acumen on the use of energy storage across a wide array of applications as they interface with our Engineering Team in the development of specific products and feature sets in R&D.

SAE’s are encouraged to build new customer relationships, maintain existing relationships, educate installers on best practices in the use of product in systems, and answer project based technical questions as a team across a broad spectrum of applications. Expectation is that each SAE is responsible for outreach, project management, and pre-sales technical support regardless of project application on inbound calls and emails.

Our team is divided into territory specific areas of focus, while building and developing relationships and sales across all application specific channels, such as Utility, Project Level, OEM, Residential, and Commercial & Industrial Sales.

Reports To: Director, Global Sales & Business Development
Travel: Up to 50% of the time
Location: Mid United States preferred, but will consider other locations based on candidate qualifications and experience

Primary Job Duties:

  • Effectively communicate and educate all prospective and existing customers and strategic partners on the company’s products, integrated systems and competitive advantages at conferences, trade shows, events, calls and in written communication.
  • Track, manage, update and prioritize leads and opportunities in company CRM to provide information and progress for reference to all internal teams.
  • Solicit feedback from external and internal stakeholders on opportunities for product development, quantify opportunities and present to cross functional teams and leadership for prioritization.
  • Identify, qualify, create and initiate collaborations with appropriate external parties to provide comprehensive solutions for development projects. Create and provide customer required documentation. Utilize software tools to quantify necessary savings and performance measures.
  • Work with existing and new customers to submit all customer required documentation, including but not limited to product technical requirements, safety and material documentation, single line diagrams, 3D renderings, interoperability, interconnection requirements and project specifications for applicable RFP or proposal submissions.
  • Answer in-bound customers’ technical questions regarding company products, over phone and email
  • Consistently perform research, request information and identify markets, incentives, policies, electrical code and jurisdiction requirements that align with Company’s product offerings. Identify public and private opportunities to assist in bringing product to market. Clearly communicate opportunities with cross-functional teams and provide project charters and strategic initiatives for approval.
  • Work with governmental, regulatory organizations to facilitate rules and regulations that favor safe and non-toxic energy storage solutions.
  • Work with advocacy organizations to promote energy storage.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3+ years in a customer facing role in energy storage or other renewable energy technology, responsible for meeting and exceeding quotas and goals.
  • 5+ year Professional Experience in the renewable energy industry, with preference towards energy storage specially.
  • Ability and experience working effectively with a remote management team.
  • Proven Communication skills working with customers, conveying technical information through written documentation, webinars and in-person presentations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience working in the renewable energy or energy storage industry, in a technical sales role
  • Project management skills
  • Knowledge of global, national and state level energy and utility level policy and regulation
  • A demonstrated ability to take on additional responsibilities and roles
  • Financial acumen
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Environmental Science, Business or Chemical Engineering or similar professional experience a plus
