Job Summary Surry Power station is seeking an Instrument Technician III to join the team. + Provide technical expertise in troubleshooting plant Programmable Electronic Systems (Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Control Systems (PLC’s) ) during start-up and day-to-day operations + Provide technical support in the development and review of work scopes, test procedures, alarm response procedures, commissioning plans and vendor reports + Write/Modify control system logic to optimize plant performance and/or control + Perform oversight of OEM control modifications + Tune complex control loops for optimal system performance + Ensure compliance with regulatory, industry, and various program requirements + Read and understand pneumatic, hydraulic, electric, and electronic documentation and drawings, and interpret equipment data + Test, inspect, and adjust control instrumentation and determine causes of instrument malfunction + Maintain and configure data historian + Perform other duties as requested or assigned, such as Operations procedure modifications, parts research and procurement, engineering support, maintaining the SRF work order and Preventative Maintenance databases. + May be required to become a member of the Station Emergency Response Organization. Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience + Minimum 5 years of industrial I&C craft experience + Experience in the following is preferred: Petroleum, chemical, liquid waste + Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot various complex components. + Demonstrated skills in the use of advanced controls techniques with hands-on experience of power plant control systems; + In-depth knowledge of industry advances in control system monitoring, testing, and analysis of controls equipment; + In-depth knowledge of field instrumentation and control valves; + In-depth knowledge of electrical and electronics theory; + Knowledge of engineering theories and principles; + Strong personal computer skills; + Proven decision-making skills; + Ability to solve problems and to process information quickly.
