The Locator/First Responder position performs location of natural gas facilities, completes natural gas emergency response procedures and leak investigation/detection, and participates in repairs to damaged service lines and other third party damage using self-contained breathing apparatus equipment. This fast-paced position also safely drives a company vehicle, installs leak repair clamps, repairs tracer wire, maintains truck inventory and completes a variety of paperwork.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
The successful candidate will possess prior locating experiencea good mechanical aptitude including experience with common hand and power tools, the ability to calibrate instruments and use self-contained breathing apparatus and squeeze-off equipment, a demonstrated knowledge of safety procedures,effective communication skills for customer interactions, and a willingness to work with others in a team environment. Candidate will be expected to be available fornatural gas emergency response after normal working hours, as needed. Basic computer skills are preferred. Applicants must reside within a 45 minute response time. Bilingual candidates are preferred.
High School diploma (from a high school accredited by an organization that is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or one of the entities recognized by the U.S. Department of Education) or GED.
Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description
A valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License within six months of employment are required.
Other Working Conditions
Duties are performed while working outside in varying weather conditions, involve extensive walking, and require some heavy lifting up to 70 lbs.
