**Key Responsibilities** 1. Design, collect data, analyze and compile reports on chemistry related to semiconductor integration with a special focus on development of chemistries. 2. Feasibility testing of new chemical processes on test vehicle equipment and participation in design of test vehicle equipment. Test new chemical processes on small scale to show feasibility 3. Technical management of supplier and academic collaborations on new chemical compounds used in Applied's field of business 4. Transfer new chemical processes to product teams. 5. The Center of Excellence for Surface Technology and Cleaning is seeking energetic candidates who have strong technical knowledge & experience in the areas of analytical chemistry, chemical engineering, and material science. The successful candidate has a passion to bring innovative ideas to solve challenging sub10nm particle and contamination problems. **Key Responsibilities:** + Operate analytical equipment including: Inductively Coupled Plasma – Mass Spectrometer (ICP-MS), VPD (Vapor Phase Decomposition), Wet Sinks, Drying Ovens + Assist in day-to-day responsibilities and analyses of wafer samples, including lab ware cleaning, data calculating and reporting, tool preparation, processing, measuring and documenting. + Develop SPC tracking program for analytical data, cleanroom monitoring etc. + Inventory lab chemicals, wafers, parts, and coupon samples + Quickly act on any customer issues resulting from inadequate part cleaning and provide solution **Qualifications** **Background & Education:** + Bachelor's Degree (Focus on Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Material Science preferred), + Prior analytical instrument operation experience (ICP-MS/ICP-AES/AAS) in an engineering and development role is preferred. + Customer chamber support, engineering lab and process tool experience is desirable. **Functional Knowledge** + Demonstrates conceptual and practical expertise in own discipline and basic knowledge of related disciplines. + Have an in depth knowledge and understanding of analytical techniques associated with cleanliness analysis and process control. + In depth knowledge of Etch, PVD and CVD process chamber applications and hardware is preferred. + Process chamber hardware failure analysis experience is desirable. **Leadership** + Demonstrate technical expertise to the cross functional teams. + Takes leadership role in solving cleaning issues across different business units and engineering teams. **Problem Solving** + Solves complex problems; takes a new perspective on existing solutions; exercises judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information **Impact** + Impacts a range of customer, engineering, operations, and supplier activities within own team and other related teams **Interpersonal Skills** + Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus **Qualifications** **Education:** Bachelor's Degree **Skills** **Certifications:** **Languages:** **Years of Experience:** 4 - 7 Years **Work Experience:** **Additional Information** **Travel:** Yes, 10% of the Time **Relocation Eligible:** No Applied Materials is committed to diversity in its workforce including Equal Employment Opportunity for Minorities, Females, Protected Veterans and Individuals with Disabilities.
