The Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy (AURA) is aconsortium of over 40 US institutions and four international affiliates thatoperates world-class astronomical observatories. AURA's role is toestablish, nurture, and promote public observatories and facilities thatadvance innovative astronomical research. AURA is responsible for managing theoperations of the Gemini Observatory, the National Optical AstronomicalObservatory, the National Solar Observatory, the Space Telescope ScienceInstitute, and the construction of the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope andthe Daniel K. Inouye Solar Telescope under cooperative agreements with theNational Science Foundation and NASA.The National Solar Observatory (NSO), Daniel K. Inouye Solar Telescope(DKIST) is seeking a Temporary, Full-Time Junior Graphic Digital-ArtDesigner. This position will be located in Boulder, Colorado on the CUBoulder Campus and is expected to last over the Summer. The DKIST is currentlyunder construction in Maui, Hawaii on the summit of Haleakala and scheduledfor completion in 2019.This position will support the Education, Outreach and Communication(EPOC) efforts of the Daniel K. Inouye Solar Telescope (DKIST) firstlight campaign. We are seeking a student with skills in digital art,specifically Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, who is interested in creatingscience imagery and visualizations.The successful student will work closely with the senior members of the EPOCteam to interpret how the DKIST will collect data and how its instrumentswork, as well as the main science goals of the telescope. No sciencebackground is necessary, though an interest in astronomy may be beneficial.This temporary position is available to begin immediately and will beavailable through the summer.
