AES Next is the new growth investment and incubation arm of AES charged with growing new business platforms that transform customer experience and the electricity sector as a whole. A successful candidate will be joining the AES management team that launched the grid storage products business, which went on to become Fluence, and successfully acquired and integrated the distributed solar energy business, which is now a key component of AES’ growth in solar PV. **Job Description** The Electric Mobility Director for AES Next leads the business development and operations of an early-stage electric mobility business. This incubation-stage initiative is pursuing opportunities across the transit, delivery, and passenger car fleet segments. Potential business areas include vehicle/battery financing, charging technology and infrastructure, shared mobility, V2G, and second-life deployment of used vehicle batteries on the grid. Major responsibilities: + Grow an incubation-stage electric mobility business to commercialization and prepare to scale. + Continue to refine and iterate on the business scope and strategy. + Source, assess, and act on electric mobility business opportunities, including organic and M&A growth. + Present strategic rationale and investment proposals to senior management that support decision-making. + Identify, create, and manage business relationships with customers, suppliers, and business partners. + Foster relationships and work collaboratively with relevant AES business teams. + Oversee business operations, technology, and infrastructure implementation. + Identify, hire, and manage team members and contractors. + Travel to domestic or international locations as needed. **Qualifications** The preferred candidate will have: + Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative or analytical field; Master’s degree preferred. + At least 7 and up to 15 years of relevant work experience. + Proven experience in growing a business. + Capability to work dynamically and collaboratively across multiple teams and projects in a technical business environment with minimal supervision. + Entrepreneurial drive for getting things done and a “make it happen” attitude with an intellectual curiosity to seek new opportunities and ability to quickly learn new areas of interest.
