**Engineer or Engineering Associate - Distribution Network Underground Services (Downtown Atlanta)** **Description** **Georgia Power, a subsidiary of Southern Company, is seeking an experienced Distribution Network Design Engineer in Atlanta GA!** **Distribution Network Underground Services Design Engineer (or Engineer Associate) – Downtown Atlanta** **Location: Network Underground Services, 829 Jefferson St., Atlanta,** **30318** **NOTE: This position will be located in the downtown Atlanta area. Candidate must currently live (or be able to quickly relocate to) within a commuting distance of Metro Atlanta area. Relocation assistance is available. Position will be filled as either an Engineer or Engineering Associate dependent upon the education, skills, and experience of the successful candidate.** **Job Summary** **This position serves as the Statewide Project Engineer and single point of contact for Engineering and Construction Coordination activities associated with unique GPC Distribution Systems. Oversees all aspects of resolving issues related to providing and maintaining reliable power to large revenue, key account customers.** **This position is responsible for the total project design and construction coordination of advanced distribution systems involving network systems, hi-rely distribution systems, automatic transfer schemes, ductline design and cable design. This position directs the required interaction and project coordination between Network Customers, their Development and Construction forces, MARTA, and GPC Resources. It manages the interaction and coordination with other NU Departments, Regions, Marketing,TMC’s, MDS, RDS, Metering Services, Land, Accounting, Contract Administration, etc.)** **Job Responsibilities** + All Project Design and Construction Coordination Activities. + Preliminary planning, system design, estimating, budgeting, engineering, scheduling, permitting, construction coordination, operation, maintenance, accounting, acquiring easements, job tracking, billing, payments, documentation, reporting, audits, etc. + Asset Management + Protection of system integrity **Job Qualifications** **_Education_** **_Requirements_** **: (The following education or license is required)** + Bachelor's Degree in Engineering OR + Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Technology OR + Bachelor's Degree in Math or Science OR + Professional Engineer's License (PE) in lieu of the above bachelor's degree **.** **_Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:_** + Strong Project Management Skills + Leadership and Management skills. + Contract Management, Application and Administration skills. + Strong interpersonal skills and negotiating skills. + Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills. + Excellent organization and documentation skills. + Ability to effectively manage a multitude of complex activities. + Customer Focused and a Team Player. + Excellent job knowledge, experienced, dependable. + Proficient with MS office products and other related engineering Software systems highly desired. + Strong Technical Engineering Skills and understanding of Power Systems are highly desired + Knowledge of electrical system operations, distribution systems, underground and overhead construction practices. + Working knowledge of typical systems (scheduling, estimating, GIS & mapping, CAD, etc.). + Must be able to effectively communicate and build positive relationships with customers, engineers, customer service, sales, corporate partners and line crew personnel. + Good Attitude and Ability to provide excellent customer service both internally and externally + Working knowledge of NESC **Other Requirements** + Must have a safe work record and follow safe work practices. + Must demonstrate "Our Values" behaviors: defined as Safety First, Unquestionable Trust, Superior Performance and Total Commitment. + Takes initiative and proven problem solver + Customer focused + Good judgment & decision making + Self motivated and directed. + Proven ability to develop good working relationships with internal/external customers and teammates **Georgia Power Company has classified this position as "Safety Sensitive" and as such is subject to relevant pre-employment screening(s) to determine fitness for duty.
