The HVAC/Controls Product Manager with be responsible for gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, defining the product vision, and working closely with business development, marketing, central services and our regional operations to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met. The HVAC/Controls Product Managers job also includes ensuring that the product supports the company's overall strategy and goals.  This position will oversee development of CSG offerings for heating, ventilation; cooling, residential site based renewable energy, domestic hot water and controls, including thermostats and demand control devices.


The HVAC/ Controls Product Manager will:

  • Will play the lead role in program innovation and redesign as required by changes in a market or changes in circumstances and opportunities. 
  • Work with the Strategy and Products group in proposal development and take a lead role in  RFP responses by defining the technical and financial plan (pricing strategy) for delivering the HVAC, controls, site based solar and demand control program components.
  • Interaction with Program Operations and Information Systems to ensure processes and systems meet the needs of the program.
  • Consult and collaborate with program managers on the delivery of HVAC product lines which involve coordination of resources to support program delivery, including mobilization of Applied Building Science technical experts, trainers, marketing and operational support for programs undergoing change, as needed 
  • Work with ABS (Applied Building Science) group to establish quality assurance standards and enforce those standards
  • Responsible for the improvement of the HVAC program product(s) including incorporation of latest techniques and technologies, seeking out and promoting improved practices
  • Develop required documents and use cases for new product features, work with marketing and the market research operation to assess the market for HVAC Programs


  • 5-10 years of program management, product development, sales and marketing experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of HVAC technology and product strategies.
  • Experience in the design and delivery of ratepayer funded HVAC programs, or equivalent experience in related energy efficiency or renewable energy programs.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing cross-functional leadership and project management.
  • Strong interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to think and work both strategically and operationally is essential.
  • Ability to bring professionalism, energy and expertise to the organization
  • Must posses an understanding of how energy efficiency and demand reduction can and should fit in to utility rate payer funded HVAC program and into comprehensive residential retrofit programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to gain commitment from the contractors, regions, marketing, and customers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at multiple levels: from team members to executive management.
  • Excellent problem solving skills, self-motivation, leadership, and team orientation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft tools, (e.g. MS Project or equivalent scheduling tools, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Must be able to travel 20% of time.


Salary Range: Commensurate with experience


Compensation package includes paid holidays, 80% paid medical, 50% paid dental, paid life & AD&D and paid STD & LTD insurance coverage, plus employer matching retirement plan
