CES’ headquarters are located in downtown San Francisco and we have more than two dozen offices across the country.  We currently have an opening for a contractor position as a Customer Development Analyst within our Marketing team in San Francisco, and we are accepting applications through January 15th at noon (PDT).


Contractor Opportunity: Customer Development Analyst
In order to capture new business, our company must identify potential target customers who are interested in our integrated energy and modernization programs and the benefits they provide. As the Customer Development Analyst, you’ll be on the front line initiating conversations and building relationships with public sector prospective customers.  You will plan and execute outbound marketing initiatives that shape our customers’ impression of our company and generate promising leads for the Business Development Team.  As the first person to engage our prospective customers, you’ll also be counted on by our Business Development Team to provide insight into what challenges our customers face.  Each and every day will be different as you work closely with individuals from across the company to craft thought-provoking messages, identify targets and run new outbound initiatives that you will communicate to hundreds of potential customers across the U.S. This is a six-month contract position with compensation ranging from $5-6K on a monthly basis, and depending on experience.

The ideal candidate is outgoing, engaging and comfortable striking up a conversation with everyone from a city engineer to a council member.  You are a strong communicator – both written and verbally - and enjoy crafting new marketing messages.  You’re also a team-player who is flexible, open to collaboration and ready to take on any project that comes their way. You graduated from a leading school where you honed your impressive analytical skills. You are highly organized with a strong work ethic and have the ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously. You have a history of achievement but check your ego at the door each and every day.

 

Opportunity Deep-Dive

The role of the Customer Development Analyst ranges from building new relationships with potential customers to coordinating event outreach to tracking progress on lead generation initiatives across the country. Primary responsibilities may evolve but will initially be focused on the following:

  • Build Relationships – Establishing relationships with potential customers, gaining insights into their initiatives and challenges, and communicating CES’s value through email and phone conversations as part of our content marketing service
  • Get Creative – Filling our content library with insightful and relevant pieces identified from 3rd party resources or developed by yourself in-house using the expertise of our cross-functional teams that will engage our customers
  • Learn, Create and Iterate – Leveraging the knowledge of internal teams, external organizations and your own research to identify new market opportunities, hone our value propositions, and create thought-provoking messages for lead generation efforts
  • Communicate and Seek Feedback – Providing regular updates on progress with lead generation initiatives, while building relationships and seeking targeted feedback from the Customer Development Team Supervisor, executives, regional managers, and business development managers nationwide
  • Lead the Internal Sale – Help organize and facilitate regional and national meetings to share new marketing initiatives and the latest insights from the initial communications with customers

Requirements

Required Qualifications:
 

  • Bachelors degree from a leading college or university
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated thought leadership, intellectual rigor and curiosity
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with and qualify potential customers to move them forward in the engagement process
  • Demonstrated interest in renewable energy and passion to serve others and make a difference in the world


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 0 – 3 years of inside sales and/or marketing experience, preferably in energy savings and renewable energy industry and/or at an organization(s) focused on complex solutions
  • Ability to synthesize ideas, news, and events into an engaging narrative that our existing and potential customers will find useful
  • Experience working and/or volunteering for public sector organizations
  • Intermediate – High Level proficiency of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and automated marketing software
