Solect Energy Development, LLC headquartered in Hopkinton, MA is experiencing accelerated growth in the very dynamic renewable energy industry. We are opening a position for a Solar System Design Engineer on our growing team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to the sales team, including site assessments
  • Solar system design including shading analysis, solar array design, inverter selection, string configuration and combiner selection, and bill of material development
  • Completion of all technical content for Interconnect Applications including electrical one-lines, site plans, and design for interface to existing customer electrical distribution system
  • Interface with external partners for creation of CAD drawings of PV systems for proposals, permit applications, and construction
  • Support all aspects of the procurement, installation and servicing of photovoltaic solar systems, including interfacing with vendors and contractors
  • Support project managers and subcontractors from initial system design through system commissioning
  • Lead the service team for the growing portfolio of installed arrays



Desired Skills and Experience

  • 2 years in the design, and specification of solar systems or equivalent training
  • 4 year degree in engineering or Trade School Electrical certificate
  • Knowledge of electrical systems and the NEC code
  • 2 years experience in the installation and servicing of solar systems or equivalent training
  • Experience in commercial electrical design and construction practices
  • Experience in vendor selection and coordination
  • NABCEP solar certification or equivalent preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Physical Requirements

  • Employee must be able to walk customer’s property which may include varying terrain
  • Employee must be able to carry up to 20 pounds of equipment, including solar analysis device, laptop, printer and binder
  • Employee may take measurements from ground using telescoping solar analysis device
