New opportunity for a Senior Project Accountant/ Analyst to provide a full range of financial and project analysis and communication for Ameresco’s Federal Solutions business unit.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Partner with Business Unit Leaders to create and manage a service-oriented function that provides solutions for business challenges, including a full range of financial and project analysis and communication support, project costs and periodic reporting, reconciliations, monthly and quarterly project status schedules and analysis, and project revenue and cost forecasting.

Review and determine initial project setup with key stakeholders.

Perform monthly project reviews with Federal Construction and Operations leaders evaluate status of each project, analyze costs and cost accruals, prepare forecasts, adjust budgets, prepare final project analysis and closeouts. Review all project costs, capitalized costs, asset (inventory) and accruals. Work with structured finance group to ensure proper accounting for financed projects.

Monitor and analyze project revenues and costs to ensure complete and accurate cost accumulation and revenue recognition. Prepare revenue deferral schedules, cost adjustments, related items and provide to Accounting Transactions teams with supporting information to process in the correct accounting period. Ensure accurate and timely closing deadlines are achieved and in full compliance with US GAAP.

Prepare and review project-related account reconciliations.

Perform regular review with business unit leaders to manage Accounts Receivable and ensure timely invoicing of projects; monitor project billings, credit memos, and project aging.

Prepare project-related SOX documents and testing.

Facilitate Project Manager training, report development, business portal access, and use of accounting information.

Prepare project schedules and analysis for auditors and assist with audit activities.

Provide assistance with establishing and updating project accounting policies and procedures, maintaining systems of internal controls, and other projects as required.

Interface with MS Dynamic accounting system and workflow/document management system as required to ensure accurate documentation for organizational use and drive toward continuous process efficiency and improvement.

Foster a positive and effective customer and team-oriented work environment that facilitates collaborative relationships and drive business cycle close processes and procedures.

Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance. Master degree or advanced education preferred.

Minimum 10 years engineering or construction project and general accounting work experience addressing financial and management accounting issues, with proven understanding of US GAAP and project contracts requirements. Familiarity with large scale, government project accounting and contracts preferred.

Demonstrated experience with MS Dynamics or similar project accounting software system.

Advanced business acumen with superior numeric, analytical, problem-solving, financial reporting skills and abilities.

Demonstrated commitment to customer service including adaptability, flexibility, teambuilding, and the ability to respond quickly to assist with problem resolution.

Proven ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues at multiple management and business unit levels and locations.

Excellent verbal, written, computer, financial data, internal consulting, and customer-focused communication and presentation skills.

Strong organizational skills with proven ability to follow through on multiple tasks and priorities.

Experience with DCAA a plus.

Valid Driver License in good standing, issued by resident state required.

U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident status required.

May be required to pass security clearance.

Travel required.
