Washington Gas Energy Systems (WGESystems) is a direct subsidiary of WGL Holdings, Inc. and a member of the WGL family of companies.  We manage a diverse portfolio of distributed generation and energy efficiency solutions across the United States for residential, commercial, industrial, government and other institutional customers. 

 In 2013, the company surpassed $100 million in commercial solar system investments annually and now owns or operates more than 32 megawatts (MW) of installed capacity in our expanding footprint of states, with another 22 MW currently under contract and in development across Arizona, California, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Georgia, Hawaii, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey and New Mexico. 

The environmental benefits of the clean energy delivered in 2013 are significant, and equate to:

- Reducing gasoline consumption by nearly 700,000 gallons;

- Saving nearly 16,000 trees; or

- Reducing CO2e emissions by more than 16,400 metric tons.



  • Assess performance of assets and ensure contractual obligations are met.
  • Schedule and conduct site-visits to determine existing conditions of assets and recommend servicing or repairs; perform hands on maintenance of electrical equipment as needed. 
  • Perform field inspections, plan reviews, contract reviews and site assessments.
  • Oversee Operations and Maintenance (O&M) contracts and contractors. Validate scope of work and participate in contract negotiations.  Track contractor payments. 
  • Review, organize, and analyze reports. 
  • Establish quality controls and conduct quality assurance checks.
  • Manage warranty/performance guarantees.
  • Participate during testing and commissioning phases.
  • Evaluate and troubleshoot asset performance vs. financial pro forma projection. 
  • Maintain and track inventory of installed equipment, warranty period & service contract milestones.
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures for the distributed generation portfolio.  Streamline and standardize existing processes for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Keep current on economic trends and industry best practices.

  • 10+ years of construction industry, asset management or energy industry including 5 years of management and electrical experience and 2 years of solar experience.
  • Knowledge of current construction and operations codes for commercial Solar PV and other distributed generation systems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the renewable energy industry with a focus on solar systems. 
  • Strong familiarity with federal and local energy regulations and performance standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint.
  • Advanced to expert level proficiency in web-based production monitoring software and data acquisition systems (DAS).
  • Superior interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to be self-motivated and maintain a positive attitude while performing in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Ability to successfully execute complex tasks simultaneously and make appropriate business decisions.
  • Bachelors degree in engineering, business or related discipline preferred.
  • Master of electrician license a plus.
  • Must have the ability to travel 50% of the time throughout the United States.
