Description

PECI is seeking a Field Technician to join our commercial HVAC program team in the Chicago metropolitan area.

This position will work with an HVAC contractor network to drive customer participation in the program through the installation of qualified energy efficiency measures on commercial HVAC systems. Preferred candidates will have technical experience with commercial HVAC systems and account management. They must also have a successful track record of working independently, producing results, proactively developing business relationships, and meeting business objectives. The hired candidate will work from a home office, coordinate with remote and office-based team members, and travel throughout a defined territory in support of the program and participating program contractors. 

Key Responsibilities: The successful candidate will engage contractors to participate in the program, train contractors on the implementation of program measures and tools, and provide participating contractors with ongoing technical and customer support. Key responsibilities will include:

•    Building and enhancing the program’s relationship with regional HVAC contractors
•    Leveraging industry and technical knowledge to promote program efficiency measures, practices, and tools
•    Providing program technician support and training to participating contractors 
•    Performing site verifications, evaluating and inspecting installed measures, and conduct quality control audits
•    Performing other duties as assigned

•    A minimum two-year degree or certificate from an accredited two year college, university or technical school OR equivalent military training 
•    HVAC industry certifications required, with minimum 5 years experience working with commercial HVAC equipment. 
•    Ability to assimilate technical information and data
•    Must be highly motivated and able to work independently
•    Must be willing and able to travel up to 70% of the time
•    Excellent verbal and written communication and troubleshooting skills are required
•    Customer service orientation
•    Must be able to demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel) 
•    Must have a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and a suitable vehicle that will not only transport the person to a customer’s location, but also occasionally large pieces of technical equipment

Physical Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be physically able to perform the following tasks 

•    Able to drive/sit in car for long periods
•    Climb up and down ladders of all types and heights, inside and outdoors
•    Lift, move, and otherwise maneuver physical objects weighing up to 50 pounds
•    Use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms
•    Frequently stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; stand, walk, climb or balance; occasionally sit
•    Specific vision abilities required by this job include: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus; safety glasses and other PPE may be required while performing certain tasks
•    Regularly work near moving mechanical parts
•    Occasionally work in high, precarious places and frequently be exposed to extreme heat and cold and risk of electrical shock
•    Occasionally work in outside weather conditions and occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, vibration, and a loud work environment
•    Do all of the above while always using safe working practice
