Director of Sales – Emerging Markets 

 My client is one of the leading, European solar inverter manufacturers worldwide. With offices and factories on a global scale, they are looking to add a senior member of management to one of their daughter companies in Shanghai, China.

With the financial backing of the leading inverter manufacturer worldwide, a team made up of international experts, and a great position in the market – this is a great opportunity to become part of something very exciting!

For this role, you must have experience selling directly to the emerging markets including South America and Africa – preference will be given to candidates who have either sold there on the ground, or have travelled there extensively as this can give you significant market knowledge which would not be able to be gained otherwise. 


  • Leads and develops the Emerging Markets Sales Business Unit with focus on Asia (excl. China), Africa and South America 
  • Prioritizes markets and determines market entry strategies for new regions
  • Maintains and expands business with existing key accounts and acquires new partners and direct 
  • Works to integrate the needs of the respective region into the corporate strategy in close cooperation with Product Management and Marketing 
  • Reports to the Executive Vice President of Sales 
  • Sets ambitious targets and devises concrete plans to achieve them on international and national levels
  • Attends trade shows and conferences 


BSc in Electrical Engineering or MBA or Business Administration qualification as well as a keen interest for technical products.

Core Requirements:

  • 5+ years of professional experience and demonstrated sales success in an international technology company
  • Ability to advance the division with proactive entrepreneurial commitment and strategic orientation
  • Represents a combination of a customer-oriented sales professional and strong technical background, who has 5 years of working experience in the indirect selling mainly with key accounts and large scale project partners of sophisticated technical products, ideally in an internationally-oriented company
  • Has excellent communication skills and sound technical knowledge, coupled with a dynamic approach to sales
  • Success-oriented, flexible and a team player
  • Past experience in sales involving local clients is an advantage – Proof of sales is also required
