POSITION – Union: Distribution Fitter C

NUMBER OF OPEN POSITIONS: 1

LOCATION: CT - Stamford

HOURLY RATE RANGE: $30.88 - $33.83

Responsibilities:

  • Learn to and work toward qualifying to install and grade plastic and steel main and service lines in accordance with CNG's Construction Standards and Policies.
  • Learn to and work toward qualifying to install various types of mechanical fittings used to install and repair all types of main and
  • service piping.
  • Operates pneumatic paving breakers, jackhammers, tampers, and compressors.
  • Learn to and work toward qualifying to use high pressure tapping equipment and other tools in a safe and productive manner.
  • Drive truck when required.
  • Helps keep truck, equipment, and other tools clean and orderly.
  • Performs all types of manual labor and other miscellaneous work, as required.
  • Learns and assists in duties of higher classification, as to qualify for promotions.
  • Performs the above in accordance with safety practices of the Company.

This is a DOT safety-sensitive position. Any applicant transferring into this department from a non-safety-sensitive position will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen. This position requires a current CDL medical exam certification and will require passing a respirator medical qualification test.

Skills and Requirements

  • Must be a graduate of high school, trade school, or equivalent.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English effectively.
  • Must have or obtain within 12 months of hire, a CDL β€” B or better license and have a good driving record.
  • Must demonstrate a mechanical aptitude, a sufficient amount of strength and the ability to perform all duties of the classification.
  • Must be able to comprehend and carry out oral and written instructions.
