General Summary

Under minimal supervision, this position is responsible for overseeing the daily workflow of all accounts payable processing, data entry, advanced reconciliations, department financial reporting, mail processing and scanning to ensure smooth daily operations of the Accounts Payable department, & serve as a department SME (Subject Matter Expert) as needed for process improvement projects.

Essential Job Accountabilities

  • Provide excellent customer service in a timely, professional manner to promote a positive interaction with internal and external customers in order to ensure that they experience the highest quality of customer service.
  • Supervise A/P invoice discrepancies and provide guidance and direction to other AP staff members in order to take appropriate corrective action within the Accounts Payable group to ensure accurate financials.
  • Serve as a resource to others to resolve issues that occur in order to provide leadership to the AP group.
  • Develops and builds on relationships in order to train employees successfully, maintain open communication with co-workers and all other employees, including executives to maintain a professional and cohesive AP team.
  • Work with the IT Department to efficiently resolve any accounts payable issues as needed to ensure accuracy.
  • Supervise project related activities specific to Accounts Payable process improvements as a department SME (Subject Matter Expert) to gain standardization and efficiency.
  • Assist the management team with on-line inquiries in the AP system to access detailed information for vendors and field representatives to ensure all inquiries are answered in a timely and informed manner promoting excellent customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to run, create and analyze AP data and financial reports for publication.
  • Superior knowledge of account reconciliations for both GL and vendor accounts to enable the AP department to handle a variety of customer inquiries.
  • Supervise closing cycle for month end close in accounts payable to adhere to all periodic accounting deadlines to ensure company compliance.
  • Serve as a backup for other accounts payable functions to ensure that all functional AP areas are covered in case of absence.
  • Serve as a backup in the absence of the Accounts Payable Supervisor or Manager to ensure the smooth daily operation of the AP department.
  • Assist with internal audits and self-audits of all business functions to ensure that established internal controls are followed to maintain compliance with Company’s policies and procedures, including all Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.

Education

  • Associates Degree in Accounting or equivalent
  • A/P certification a plus
  • General knowledge of Lean Six Sigma principles desired

Work Experience

  • 5+ years in Accounts Payable (progressive at Granite a plus)
  • 2 years Accounting experience helpful
  • Training and Leadership experience preferred

Base Salary Range:

$64,315.00 - $96,472.00

Pay may vary based upon relevant experience, skills, location, and education among other factors.
