Location: Portland, Oregon

Salary range: $114,332.00 to 142,916.00

The Business Digital Transformation & Optimization (DTO) department is a cross-functional area focused on improving projects, processes, systems, and tools with focus on obtaining positive and quantitative business results. This area is responsible for defining, standardizing, implementing, and continuously improving processes, systems, and tools to develop sustainable efficiencies in the entire value chain of the onshore business.

This position is in the Power Physicals application support group, which is primarily responsible for supporting the power trading systems. The main focus of this position will be systems support for vendor hosted trading systems and being the liaison between the Center of Excellence (CoE) and the business to elicit, document, analyze, and validate requirements for new systems and enhancement of existing systems pertaining to Front, Middle, and Back office functions, such as Real Time Trading, Power Scheduling, Operations, Reporting, Settlements. In this position you will solve complex problems, taking a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions. It will require strong communication and analytical skills, and the ability to work independently and in teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide support for vendor hosted systems specific to Open Access Technology (OATI) relative to Trading and Reliability business workflows
  • Provide our business partners application expertise and technical knowledge, as appropriate, specific to these hosted systems
  • Work with users to define new requirements for their business processes and collaborate to resolve issues in current processes and applications
  • Perform in a leadership role on projects to facilitate the development of less experienced analysts
  • Manage, participate, and coordinate all upgrades and changes to all supported applications
  • Monitor the systems, assist in troubleshooting, and report problems to vendor(s) ensuring appropriate and timely resolutions. This could include after-hours support as our business partners are 24/7
  • Ensure compliance with established IT control policies

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years’ experience in energy trading and reliability applications
  • Knowledge of power trading, scheduling, and operations
  • Strong knowledge of IT concepts, practices, controls and procedures
  • Proficiency using windows and the complete MS Office Suite
  • Capacity to manage multiple tasks, solve complex problems, and work under pressure
  • Ability to foster and participate in a productive team environment
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and coordinate multiple work activities and meet target deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical personnel
  • Perform a variety of tasks and the ability to work with minimal supervision, as well as in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with OATI applications, especially webTrader, webAccounting, webSmartTag, webTrans, webEIM
  • Understanding of the Bulk Electric System in general
  • Working knowledge of energy trading, scheduling, reporting, meter, forecast systems and on-line exchanges
  • Knowledge of RTO/ISO Markets – PJM, MISO, ISONE, NYISO, CAISO, ERCOT, SPP
