Associate, Hybrid Value

Position Overview

Hybrid Value formally integrates Apollo’s market leading private equity and opportunistic credit franchises to capitalize on market challenges and misunderstood risk/reward situations to provide debt and equity solutions globally across asset classes, industries and geographies. The Associate will work as part of the Hybrid Value team on all stages of the investment and ongoing portfolio monitoring processes. In this role, the candidate will focus on Hybrid Value’s three core strategies: (i) capital solution financings, (ii) structured equity and (iii) non-control stressed/distressed across both primary and secondary markets. His/her responsibilities will include financial modeling and analysis, company and industry research, portfolio management, and idea generation. Immediate or near-term start date strongly preferred.

Primary Responsibilities

• Provide analytical and project support for all investment-related activities including idea generation, evaluation, execution, and ongoing portfolio monitoring/management
• Ability to conduct private equity style due diligence
• Analyze company and industry data to identify statistical trends and run performance analytics
• Forecast business performance by building multi-scenario financial models
• Run sensitivity analyses to identify quantitative impact on performance under various stress tests
• Conduct deep company and industry research
• Develop investment committee memoranda and materials with senior team members
• Assist the team with additional ad hoc projects

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree from a top undergraduate institution with a record of academic achievement
• At least one to two years of relevant work experience including at least one year in investment banking or corporate finance advisory (M&A, Restructuring and Leveraged Finance experience preferred)
• Strong modeling, analytical, valuation and problem-solving skills
• Genuine interest in hybrid capital investing and ability to analyze credit and equity subscription documents
• Ability to take initiative and be a self-starter, running an analysis to conclusion
• Ability to multi-task with strong attention to detail
• Strong communication skills
• Consummate team player
• Excels in a rigorous and fast-paced team-oriented work environment
• Strong references from existing and prior direct managers
