The Cyber Risk Optimization Group in the Cybersecurity Research Center of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) is seeking a Business Support Professional (BSP). As a member of a center-wide support team, this BSP role has a primary focus on supporting Cybersecurity managers & research groups.
The career opportunity involves both routine business support assignments and non-routine or special assignments. Tasks include managing documentation flow, assisting or executing staff travel arrangements, managing purchases, assisting with the publication process, supporting meetings, workshops, visitor tours and large scale events (including scheduling, room set-up, site access, security arrangements, webinars, catering, audio visual set-up, meeting materials, etc.). The BSP will also support the development of spreadsheets and other financial documents, and should be comfortable using multiple online electronic systems for finance, purchasing, travel, etc.
The position requires a willingness to work as a team with other business support professionals within the center, as well as assist lab-wide when needed. The position requires attention to detail, diplomacy, and the ability to juggle multiple projects at once. The selected applicant will display a positive, team-oriented attitude, outstanding administration skills, ability to prioritize work, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ideal candidate will have exceptional team and interpersonal skills.

Confidentiality, diplomacy, and a respect for protocol are needed for this position. The incumbent shall develop and maintain administrative, financial and record systems, and execute business support functions with some oversight, but at times will be required to execute tasks on their own with minimal supervision. The position will require working routinely with management. Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, OneNote, SharePoint and Outlook are required. Other frequently used electronic software programs include Adobe, Microsoft Forms, Oracle for accounting and purchasing, Workday for personnel functions, and Concur for travel and finance. Ideal candidates must be proficient with these programs or show a willingness to learn.
This position will be located full time in the office at STM campus in Golden, CO unless otherwise agreed upon by the Group Manager and employee.

Ability to juggle and track the flow of paperwork (i.e. travel expense reports, subcontracts);

Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance. Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE O 472.2A for additional information.
Degree in business, communications, or related field;
Experience procuring, invoicing and inventorying equipment;
Experience onboarding and training new staff with basic administrative tasks
Event planning; coordination across multiple teams, with many attendees and logistics
Prior experience in a similar role within a highly technical R&D team or academic environment
