£44,800 - £56,000 per annum + Bonus up to 10% and Single Cover Private Medical Insurance

As Communications Advisor, you’ll develop, prepare and promote internal communication channels to meet the requirements of the employees and business needs. You’ll provide communication products that will support people in their roles, adhere to a common communication approach and contribute to achieving key business objectives.


This role will be responsible for the delivery of an employee focused communication plan across the SP Energy Networks business.


You’ll take control of employee communication channels ensuring the delivery of clear, consistent, and effective communications to a range of business audiences. You’ll also provide direction and assistance to business leaders to ensure key strategic and operational messages are delivered, understood and effectively cascaded across the business.


The importance of effective Employee Communications will be championed to embed the delivery of regular face-to-face communication as a key management responsibility.

What you’ll be doing

General
• Liaise with business contacts and user groups to ensure that communications meet user requirements.
• Offer guidance and advice on internal communications activities/channels.
• Work with Business Units in producing communication around campaigns.
• Production of external literature
• Promotion of all communications channels as a functional work tool.
• To implement innovative and leading edge communications solutions using new
technology.
• Development of communication strategies and implementation of Operating Plan
• Development of communication plans for Business Units and SP Energy Networks projects
• Support and advise the business in the use of communications to achieve key business objectives.
• To establish and cultivate a two-way communication culture.
• Develop & provide communication content that supports the business needs and in line with business strategy.
• Work with message owners, business contacts and user groups ensuring that internal
communications meet user and staff requirements.
• Create and develop consistent messaging and communication content that can be
published across a wide range of communication channels, such as staff publications,
intranet, team meetings, notice boards
• Advise Executive Team, Operational Managers and Team Leaders in the use of
communications to achieve key business objectives.
• Be actively involved in the preparation, management, implementation and support of all SP Energy Networks Conferences and road-shows
• Manage Long Service Awards events and ensure distribution of awards to all recipients
• To establish and cultivate a contemporary communication culture.
• Devise, conduct and analyse communication audits for all SP Energy channels and events.
• Preparation of presentations as required

Intranet & Internet

  • Devise & implement new initiatives which support existing communication channels in successfully delivering business objectives
  • Consider and develop activities to encourage use of the internet and intranet site.
  • Develop and introduce new methods, techniques and practices that ensure the intranet and internet is up to date, accurate and compliant.
  • Develop and implement processes and procedures to encourage consistent approach to managing business content updates and to maintain control of look and feel of website.
  • Research, compile, write and publish content to both sites
  • Promotion of the site – reporting on analytics and SEO as appropriate
  • Work with Systems UK to establish effective web based solutions to support business activities and requirements
  • Responsibility for all social media communications across multiple channels, including Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube and Yammer, with the aim of delivering key messages to new audiences, creating local advocates in our communities.
  • Devise strategy and metrics for social media communications which align to business objectives, managing promotion and growth of channels through external signposting and/or paid advertising, agreed and continually reviewed in conjunction with Stakeholder Engagement Manager.
  • Manage own workload to Research, compile, write and work with comms team to publish content through all social media channels. Using software to publish social media content and identifying opportunities to engage with key stakeholders and partner organisations. Develop and introduce new methods, techniques and practices that ensure social media channels are up to date, accurate and compliant. Suggesting and sourcing marketing communications content from across business.
  • Working with Corporate Communications, the Communications Manager and the Stakeholder Engagement Manager to ensure new materials comply with corporate branding guidelines and are aligned with corporate strategy. Also ensuring that consistency of branding used across range of communications materials and internal/external signposting.
  • Manage own workload to prepare professionally designed presentations to be used across organisation, within specified branding guidelines, as required.

What you’ll bring

  • Previous communications experience
  • An in-depth understanding of the UK utilities market
  • Knowledge of ScottishPower Group activities and in-depth knowledge of SP Energy Networks business activities
  • A close understanding of the varying business requirements within SP Energy Networks

  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills in order to motivate and influence Managers and staff at all levels. Ability to influence and motivate teams to deliver communication interventions
  • Proficient in the use of IT – predominantly windows and microsoft packages
