Rotoflow® is a full-service turbomachinery OEM - providing a wide-range of new equipment solutions and aftermarket services to our customers globally. For over 75 years, Rotoflow® has designed and manufactured both standard and custom-engineered cryogenic and warm gas centrifugal turbomachinery used in market segments such as industrial gases, petrochemicals, and hydrocarbons. Products include compressor loaded turbo-expanders, generator-loaded power recovery expanders, and low-cost dissipative expanders. We offer new equipment designs, rerates, upgrades and repair along with field services, engineering evaluations, reliability, troubleshooting, training, remote diagnostics/data monitoring, shop services, and new equipment replacements for all types of centrifugal and reciprocating equipment. Our customers are served globally through regional service centers supported by both regional and centralized execution teams.

We are seeking Aftermarket Designers at our turbomachinery service center in Houston, Texas. As an Aftermarket Designer, you will be responsible for revising existing and creating new drawings, bills of materials, models of components and systems for spares, repairs, and upgrades of all types of turbomachinery. You will enjoy:

  • Working closely with highly experienced, motivated engineers and professionals to learn about all aspects of turbomachinery,

  • Having the ability to influence existing product designs and new design best practices by providing valuable aftermarket feedback to the new product group,

  • Being part of an engineering and service organization; giving the candidate the ability to learn about theoretical machinery design and its practical, hands-on applications,

  • Interfacing with regional support facilities and Air Products staff located in Europe, Middle-East, Africa, Asia, and the Americas.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Creation of 3D CAD models of turbomachinery components including complex geometries such as radial impellers

  • Creation of 2D and 3D CAD layouts and drawings using ANSI geometric dimensioning

  • Revision and recreation of older drawings; some of which were drawn by hand; including revision documentation via Engineering Drawing Revision Notifications

  • Designing and creating manufacturing drawings for tooling associated with servicing turbo-machinery

  • Support of the turbomachinery repair team with design and parts disposition

  • Creation and revision of P&IDs for turbomachinery and associated equipment and systems

  • Creation, revision, and maintenance of part numbers, part routings and bills of materials in Air Products’ ERP system (SAP)

  • The designer will interface with a broad spectrum externally including casting, forging, and machining suppliers and internally including proposal management, project, engineering, shop operations, and field service engineers

Qualifications

  • Minimum of Associate Degree or equivalent training in mechanical engineering, mechanical design technology, or related degree

  • 5+ years minimum experience in design function

  • Detailed knowledge of turbomachinery and related technologies a strong plus

  • Houston, Texas preferred

  • Excellent time management skills and ability to work independently on multiple concurrent projects or tasks and as a team

  • Excellent knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD systems preferred) and Microsoft Office tools

  • Excellent attention to detail and written and oral communication skills

  • Excellent understanding of revision control philosophy

  • Experience with tolerancing and stack-up philosophy

  • Experience with mechanical design of tooling

  • Experience with SolidWorks and Bently MicroStation a strong plus

  • Experience with FEA a strong plus

  • Formal GD&T training a strong plus

  • Experience with SAP ERP system a strong plus

Work Hours

  • Onsite at our Houston Service Shop 5 days per week (M-F), 8 hrs per day, starting between 7 am and 8 am

  • Minimal Travel

  • Minimal Overtime
