The Role:

In this role, you will guide clients through the complexities of environmental regulations, ensuring compliance and facilitating the acquisition of necessary permits for diverse projects. Your expertise will be pivotal in navigating legal frameworks, conducting thorough impact assessments, and devising strategic solutions that align with both regulatory requirements and sustainability goals. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of professionals, engage with stakeholders, and drive impactful projects that harmonize development with environmental stewardship.

We are looking for professionals with experience in sustainability and/or management consultancy and/or have an industry background within the field of sustainability, permitting and compliance.

What Will You Be Doing?


As a Consultant for Legal Environment Permitting, you are part of a multidisciplinary international team working on challenging assignments, within a wide range of clients in various industries like Consumer Goods & Retail, Renewable Energy, Food, Chemical Industry, Supply Chain and Data Technology. As a team you the delivery of products and services to our client related to obtaining needed permissions for new developments and assuring compliance to regulations.

Regulatory and EHS Compliance:

  • Coordinate regulatory inspections, reporting, and ensure compliance with environmental permits and pollution prevention programs.

  • Conduct EHS compliance reviews, risk assessments, and develop programs to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.

  • Identify, evaluate, and mitigate EHS hazards through inspections, assessments, and proactive measures.

Program Development and Administration:

  • Develop and maintain employee safety and injury prevention programs.

  • Administer environmental permit management programs to ensure regulatory compliance.

  • Implement and oversee EHS training initiatives to enhance safety practices and knowledge.

Performance Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Collect and analyze site-level EHS metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

  • Conduct management reviews and report on corrective actions taken.

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement in site safety practices and overall safety culture.

Your responsibilities:

  • Delivery of projects for our clients. That includes responsibilities like conducting analysis, facilitating workshops, collecting, and processing large amounts of data, turning analysis into insights, project & stakeholder management, creating management presentations, etc.

  • Proactively thinking with clients about business strategies, development and integration of innovative concepts and technology and transformation plans.

  • Managing client stakeholder relationships.

  • Signaling and acting upon the needs of the clients and translating these into projects.

  • Actively updating yourself with new developments and innovations in the field of sustainability, compliance and safety.

  • Leading/contributing to the development of new propositions in the field of sustainability, compliance and safety to increase and improve our offerings portfolio.

  • Contribute to developing activities for our growing practice within the ERM network.

Requirements / Qualifications:

  • A relevant Bachelor or Master’s degree, preferably environmental law related, health and safety engineering or with a technical and/or (organizational) business focus.

  • Interest in corporate sustainability, compliance and health and safety and what this means for our clients.

  • Is proactive, self-motivated, detail-oriented, well-organized and capable of working independently and as part of a team.

  • Is committed to continuous learning and professional development.

  • Strong analytical skills and proficient in MS-applications such as word, Excel etc. knowledge of power automate, power BI etc. is appreciated.

  • Interested in project management.

  • Excellent communicative skills (speaking and writing) in Dutch and English (C1/C2 level).

Preferred candidates have experience on any of the following topics:

  • The current socio-environmental challenges businesses face (e.g. climate change, biodiversity, diversity and inclusion, resource and waste management etc.).

  • Corporate sustainability.

  • Health and safety (incl. emergency response and crisis management)

  • Sustainable and compliance business strategies.

  • Environmental and safety auditing
