As an Environmental Technologist Co-op/Summer Student, you will join our Guelph, Ontario office as part of our Eastern Groundwater team. The successful applicant will be involved in a broad range of projects with the following responsibilities:
Active participation in maintaining Montrose strong safety culture.
Perform a variety of field work including supervising drilling activities, collecting soil and groundwater samples, installing monitoring wells; conducting hydraulic response tests and installing, setting up and collecting recorded digital data sets from automated environmental monitoring equipment.
Act as the primary “field” point of contact for various construction projects.
Work with Project Managers to develop workplans that ensure project deliverables are in line with scope, timelines and budgets, and project objectives.
Prepare a variety of technical reports including analyzing, interpreting results and reporting on compiled project data.
Travel to urban (Greater Toronto Area) and remote locations (northern and eastern Ontario), will be required to carry out field programs.
Work with talented multidisciplinary teams of geologists, hydrogeologists, and engineers.
Coordinate with clients and subcontractors on-site.
What We Are Looking For
Technical Diploma in engineering, geology, hydrogeology, environmental science, or a related field.
Previous experience in a consulting, municipal or a construction work environment is considered an asset.
Practical field experience with soil logging and sampling, groundwater monitoring and sampling, and hydrogeologic testing is considered an asset.
Working knowledge of the Ontario regulations (O.Reg. 153/04 and O.Reg. 406/19) is considered an asset.
Willingness to travel and work in urban and remote locations across Ontario.
Ability and experience working within a construction site around heavy equipment.
A high degree of attention to detail and an ability to problem-solve.
Service-oriented with strong time management skills.
Strong interpersonal skills, and a collaborative attitude.
Proficient technical writing skills.
A valid class G driver’s license with no restrictions and a clean driving record.

This is an contract position with a hourly rate range of $24.00-$26.00 starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience and work location.
