Job Description Summary:
The Estimator – Civil will be responsible for supporting and assisting senior staff with estimating activities for utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage (BESS) construction projects, including but not limited to review of project documents, preparation and presentation of estimates.Job Description:

Position Responsibilities and Duties:
Review project plans, specifications and other Owner provided documents especially related to civil scopes, such as grading plans, erosion/sediment control plans, landscape plans and Geotechnical reports
Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs
Determine costs for civil/sitework scope
Prepare conceptual estimates for design-build civil/sitework scope (including SWPPP BMPs) based on high level understanding of the project with limited engineering information provided
Prepare detailed cost estimates for civil/sitework scope based on construction documents, including coordinating subcontractor quotes
Meet bidding deadlines and/or due dates for tasks assigned by senior staff
Lead civil review with others on Estimating team
Participate in estimate reviews with Management
Communicate/coordinate with field teams to gather feedback to inform new estimates
Maintain good relationships with colleagues, suppliers and subcontractors
Assist with determining schedule activities and durations related to civil scopes for input into project schedules
Assist with training others on estimating team
Complete other responsibilities as assigned
Position has flexibility to be based in any of the SOLV Energy offices; hybrid or remote arrangements also considered
Periodic travel to project sites across the country, as well as travel to San Diego if based in another location
Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements:
Construction Management or Engineering degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum 3 years Estimating experience desired, preferably in heavy civil and/or utility scale solar construction.
Understanding of civil scopes for solar sites such as clearing and grubbing, earthwork, sediment and erosion control, road construction, trenching and site stabilization measures
Project management and/or field experience desired
Ability to read and understand specifications and drawings
Organizational skills
Critical thinking and ability to quickly learn new concepts
Demonstrated ability to work in fast-paced environment desired
Ability to work individually as well as in a team setting
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work in stressful situations
Ability to manage multiple deadlines
Working knowledge of construction costs and principles
Proficiency in Excel required; proficiency with software such as Microsoft Teams, Bluebeam, Autodesk Civil 3D or AGTEK, Building Connected, On-Screen Takeoff (OST) and P6 desired
Working knowledge of Photovoltaic systems and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) desired

$104,215.00 - $130,270.00
