Job Summary:
Xylem is looking for a Senior Field Service Technician to travel to various customer sites and perform preventative maintenance on our water purification equipment. This position is open to all qualified candidates in the northeast.

Responsibilities:
To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Travel Requirements:

  • Travel 1x/week on average
  • May travel anywhere in NE


Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Three to five years experience in troubleshooting and repairing electric controls and related industrial equipment.
  • General knowledge of 3-phase 480 volt electrical devices or power systems.
  • One to two years experience with variable frequency drives and PLC controls.


Skill Requirements:

  • Troubleshoot and make electrical repairs to electrical control equipment including: motor starter panels, VFDs, flowmeters and PLCs.
  • Build electrical control panels that include transducers, switches, drives, power supplies, PLCs and integrate these devices with Field Smart Technology (FST).
  • Use a multimeter and signal generator to diagnose problems with low voltage DC and AC signal wiring.
  • Provide field support over the phone.
  • Use computer software to update PLCs.
  • Read electric control wiring diagrams to build and troubleshoot systems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and service with minimal direction on electrical fleet equipment between each rental.
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems, pump problems and diesel engines.
  • Create an accurate and legible parts and repair list for assigned fleet equipment. Coordinate with Parts Manager for timely and efficient order and delivery of required components.
  • Assist with system setup on customer job sites as needed.
  • Operate a service truck and respond to after-hours customer repair calls as needed.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects, prioritize, meet deadlines and work independently with initiative in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to collaborate and build effective relationships at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to calculate general math, standard and metric measurements
  • Ability to read and comprehend electrical wiring schematics and mechanical drawings
  • Thorough understanding of single phase and three phase electrical systems and DC systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot control panels for single phase and three phase controls
  • Ability to travel frequently and with limited notice.

Specialized Knowledge Preferred:

  • Forklift certification preferred
  • Service and repair knowledge of electrical equipment
  • Knowledge of AC/DC component location and identification
  • Knowledge of AC/DC electric and circuit testing skills
  • Experience with electrical submersible equipment a plus

Salary range:

$53,200.00 - $85,100.00
