Your Opportunity

One Temporary Full Time Position.

The Financial Services Student will assist the Controller’s Team with day to day, month-end and quarter-end transactions.

You will contribute to our team by:

  • Ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records by reconciling balance sheet accounts
  • Verifying and reconciling bank statements to maintain accurate cash balances
  • Processing invoices and maintaining up-to-date supplier records
  • Conducting audits to verify banking transactions and ensure compliance with financial policies
  • Managing accounts receivable entries and processing payments efficiently
  • Preparing files for financial reporting, ensuring data accuracy and completeness
  • Completing mass allocations to distribute costs across various departments or projects
  • Creating and updating documentation for financial processes to ensure clarity and consistency
  • Assisting in the preparation of quarterly disclosure reports for external reporting
  • Conducting ad hoc analysis of accounts to identify discrepancies and provide insights
  • Organizing team events to foster collaboration

What you will bring to the role:

Education:

  • Enrolled in a post-secondary Business/Commerce degree program, majoring in accounting with at least 2 years completed.

Experience:

  • Analytical skills to identify potential problems related to position responsibilities.
  • Ability to work effectively with others to resolve issues as part of a team.
  • Strong written, verbal communication, and presentation skills.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in data analysis and computational skills using Microsoft Excel
  • Experience in an ERP system is an asset

Working Conditions:

  • Hybrid Office/Work from home position, with possible very minimal travel to meet business users at Capital Power facilities or other offices.

Additional Details:

Hours of Work: 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week

Duration: May 5, 2025 - August 29, 2025

Union: CSU52 – BUCO

Salary Range: $33.62 to $36.67
