Position: Forklift Operator – Direct Hire (Sit-down and Standup forklift available)

Pay: $21.62/hr. starting pay! Opportunity to earn overtime as well!

Shifts: 2nd and 3rd shifts available

2nd shift – 2:00pm to 10:30pm (Monday to Friday)

3rd Shift – 11pm to 7:30am (Sunday night – Friday Morning)

Who Are We?

Our St. Joseph, Missouri distribution center charges, packages and ships the batteries used in cars, boats, motorcycles, and heavy-duty trucks. We opened in 2000, now employ more than 280 people and operate six days per week. We are actively involved in our local community and give back through The United Way, Camp Quality, Second Harvest Food Bank and Habitat for Humanity.

Summary:

You will be responsible for receiving, moving, and transporting raw materials, parts, and packing materials to designated locations throughout the plant using forklifts and other equipment. You will also perform inventory tracking and assist with warehouse organization.

Primary Duties:

  • Assists in training of new employees in warehouse activities.
  • Operates and services power forklift trucks, uses hand trucks, and other equipment.
  • May operate banding and wrapping equipment as required.
  • Receives and unloads trucks of incoming material.
  • May count, weigh, and record.
  • Verifies and records counts of incoming and outgoing material on BES system
  • Reports discrepancies to supervision.
  • Signs bills of lading on incoming material.
  • Loads miscellaneous materials to trucks such as scrap, empty drums, materials for other plants, etc.
  • Has knowledge of product and product specifications.
  • Reports to supervision when substandard samples are found.
  • May handle empty skids, pallets, and miscellaneous dunnage, and stack or store as required.
  • Responsible for keeping work area clean and orderly.
  • Wires mixed batteries and wet IBT’s received that require boosting and returns to stock.
  • Supplies production lines with necessary materials when required and moves miscellaneous scrap materials out of production area to warehouse or yard.
  • Keeps warehouse and yard storage orderly to use available space to the best advantage.
  • Performs daily production cycle counts as directed by supervision.
  • Reports shortages of material of any kind
  • May be required to take inventory of material at periodic intervals as directed.
  • May direct work of others temporarily assigned to receiving and storing functions.
  • Follows incoming inspection procedures manual of specific materials to select, examine, and record condition of samples.

Additional Duties:

  • Participate in High-Performance Team (HPT) initiatives.
  • Engage in focus groups at the SJDC.
  • Input work orders into Maximo for machinery Malfunction.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications:

  • 1 year of forklift experience in a manufacturing or warehouse setting required.
  • Previous certification on stand-up or sit-down forklifts, with willingness to be recertified.
  • Comfortable working overtime and weekends as needed.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.

Tools & Equipment:

  • Forklifts, hand trucks, small tools, pallets, BES RF terminals, and wrapping equipment.
