The Innovation Engineer Intern will coordinate opportunities/tasks related to Technology & Innovation



Summer 2025 Internship. This position will be in office full time in San Diego, CA or Bend, OR.

Job Description:

Position Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Coordinate with internal business units including Engineering, Procurement, Project Management, Construction, and Services:

  • Discuss current challenges along with potential improvements and innovations

  • Develop and analyze possible solutions to challenges

  • Travel to SOLV Energy job sites across country to observe construction process and identify inefficiencies

  • Coordinate with external partners and consultants on new products, product iterations, and/or new services:

  • Conceptual design and/or idea

  • Prototyping, testing and final design

  • Deployment plan/schedule

  • Draft provisional patent applications and/or other documentation to protect shared intellectual property

  • Manage Teams channel (organize and upload documents)

  • Research innovative trends/technologies and collect new product details

  • Coordinate new product (vendor) submittals with internal and external consultants

  • Take meeting minutes for engineering innovation team meetings and manage resulting action items

  • Assist in data analysis/calculations and graphical presentation of data

  • Review previous design, products, and construction techniques to understand problems to be resolved

Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements:

  • Working towards Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing or Construction Management

  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively through the United States and abroad

  • Anticipated percentage of time spend traveling: 50%

  • Creativity, Enthusiasm, and the ability to thrive in an atmosphere of continuous change

  • Effective organizational skills

  • Ability and comfort in working in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks/priorities

  • High degree of personal accountability and integrity

  • Proficient in the Microsoft Suite of tools including Teams, SharePoint, Excel, Word and other essential business tools that may be employed

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Excellent analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills

$20.00 - $22.00
