Position Description

Provide engineering support of power plant projects at Colstrip Power Plant.

  • Support Environmental Remediation projects at the plant.

  • Support Plant Environmental Engineering group with projects.

  • Support Project Team and Scheduler on project’s Primavera schedule.

  • Attend internal and external project meetings with Talen Leadership, project team, plant staff, contractors, and vendors.

  • Support Project Management team with collection of information and preparation of project status update reports.

  • This list of job duties and assignments is not all-inclusive, and may require other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in Civil Engineering program or closely related engineering program.

  • Must be enrolled on a full-time basis (12 semester hours).

  • Must possess an acceptable overall (cumulative) grade point average, no lower than a 2.5.

  • Must be able to work in a team environment.

  • Must be able to demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Must have demonstrated leadership abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred to have past internship experience

Preferred to be rising Junior or Senior.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Must possess mobility to work in:

  • Standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, stamina to maintain attention to detail, despite interruptions, vision to read printed materials and a computer screen for long period of time. Hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the phone.

When at a plant site, noise levels are moderately loud and may vary in various areas of the plant site.

When working in an office setting, the noise level is usually quiet.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Must have manual dexterity and ability to manipulate keyboards.

Mental Demands:

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to use written and oral communication skills, read and interpret data, information and documents; analyze and solve complex problems, observe and interpret situations, use math and mathematical reasoning; deal with changing, intensive deadlines, and interact with internal and external clients. Must be able to concentrate while under time constraints.
