A key requirement of the NIS regulations is ensuring that security systems maintain their effectiveness as a risk reduction compensating control throughout the life of the asset. This area will see significant growth due to the enhanced requirements of NIS and the increased number of sites. Working within the team led by the ScottishPower Security UK Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Assurance Engineer will audit, review, and enhance maintenance practices within Security UK.

The Maintenance Assurance Engineer will be part of a team implementing an effective maintenance strategy, which will include extension of asset life, reduction of asset failure, minimising operational expenditure where possible and reduce system outages and down time.

What you’ll be doing

  • Support co-ordination and planning of engineering and technical resources to meet the requirements of SPCS asset management strategy.

  • Support asset management strategy and direction to the Security UK team to meet the objectives of the security director.

  • Support and coordinate Engineering resources to ensure compliance with the Statutory and UK business requirements.

  • Actively promote and manage positive H&S behaviours and competencies.

  • Support the Maintenance Manager in implementing and maintaining a Balanced Maintenance Strategy

  • Supporting function for engineering contractors to ensure resolution of technical Issues.

  • Provide engineering support to the development and implementation of Technical Engineering Standards, Procedures and Processes to ensure sustainable quality driven practices.

  • Conduct root cause failures and trend analysis.

  • Provide technical engineering support Security Operational and Fire Control teams as required.

  • Liaise and coordinate with external suppliers / contractors to ensure delivery specifications are met.

  • Ensure all technical recommendations / advice is supported by due diligence.

  • Contribute to the identification of technical risks, issues & impacts.

  • Continuously strive to look for innovative solutions to drive down the project CAPEX / OPEX.

  • Develop external relationships to ensure that ScottishPower and Iberdrola remain abreast of engineering best practice.

  • Support in Value Engineering activities and workshops to strive towards continual improvement of business processes and procedures for the Security UK function.

What you’ll bring

  • Industry experience in Security Maintenance workstreams.

  • Demonstrable experience of supporting external maintenance / service teams

  • Demonstrable experience in developing and maintaining an asset database and asset management strategy within a largescale industrial maintenance/service environment.

  • Proven ability to work through complex operational, technical / commercial, formulate solutions, and make sound, well informed decisions and committing to implementation through appropriate courses of action even in uncertain situations to achieve business objectives.

  • Ability to adapt quickly to a rapidly changing working environment and demonstrate a positive example in relation to change management.

  • Ability to work under pressure and deliver against challenging timescales.

  • Ability to manage identification and delivery of technology and systems to incorporate into technical strategies and solutions.

  • EHS qualification with experience of safety legislation within a utility or equivalent environment

  • Experience in the development of management system documentation (Procedures and processes) as part of an ISO:9001 accredited system or similar

  • Considerable experience in contracting processes

  • Experience in contracting strategies definition and execution
