Summary
The I&C Design team manages the development, design, and implementation of plant modifications. The individual will be responsible for developing the scope, technical basis, installation, and testing requirements for plant modifications installed in the plant. Ongoing support of assigned engineering changes through work order reviews, corrective action program assignments, and field installation support activities is required.
Responsibilities
- Develop the scope, technical basis, installation and testing requirements for engineering design changes, which include but are not limited to digital control and data acquisition systems, distributed I&C system platforms, Operator Aid Computer, plant network systems, security computer systems, plant instrumentation, etc.
- Research engineering and design issues, evaluates alternatives, determines, and presents recommendations to resolve issues.
- Provide ongoing support of assigned engineering design changes through work order reviews, corrective action program assignments, and field installation support activities.
- Develop or revise design specifications or technical requirements documents to support engineering design changes.
- Develop or revise complex engineering calculations impacted by engineering design changes.
- Develop safety screens and evaluations that support engineering design changes.
- Revise site design basis documents, design drawings, and regulatory documents impacted by engineering design changes.
- Possesses and applies the fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures; proficient in technical and analytical competencies necessary to handle assignments of increasing complexity.
- Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities. Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills. Maintains accurate records and files.
- Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally.
Basic / Required Qualifications
Nuclear Engineer I
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
- A master’s degree in engineering will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor of Science in Engineering
- 0-2 years of engineering experience
Nuclear Engineer II
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
- A Master 's degree in Engineering will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor of Science in Engineering.
- 2-4 years of engineering experience.
- Minimum of 1 year of nuclear experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
- Proficient in engineering theories and principles.
- Proficient in practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations, and preparing and presenting recommendations based on solid engineering judgement.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Proficient in principles of project management.
- Experience in the utility industry
Specific Requirements
- In lieu of 1 year of nuclear experience, a selected candidate is subject to the oversight and written approval authority of a designated qualified individual until the selected candidate becomes fully qualified.
- Able to achieve nuclear site Unescorted Access/Security clearance.
- This position may be required to have Emergency Response Organization (ERO) responsibilities which could include callouts with a defined response time to the site and an on-call duty rotation requiring the employee to be Fit for Duty.
- Required to wear personal protective equipment (hardhat, safety glasses, fall protection, etc.) as needed.
- Office and plant environments.
- Additional hours expected as workload/business need requires.
- Occasional overnight travel.
Working Conditions
- Typically, an office environment with some work in the plant to conduct system walkdowns and field support of modification implementation.
