The Portfolio Finance Manager will support Apollo’s Portfolio Management & Trading team, serving as the lead contact for all portfolio financing activities. This individual will be leveraged as the strategic advisor to the business on fund financing, partnering on live trade situations in addition to managing the ongoing leverage the funds have across leverage facilities and prime brokers. This role involves interfacing with many internal and external stakeholders, managing relationships with Prime Brokers, and leading strategic financing projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financing transactions, risk management, and portfolio optimization.
Primary Responsibilities
Portfolio Financing Management: Serve as the point person for all financing requests from Portfolio Management/Trading. Optimize existing leverage across existing PBs and ABLs. Interface with the street and broader Apollo team, providing color to the desk, coordinating borrow requests, and executing financing transactions. This role will handle and monitor all re-rates as well as overborrow charges. This person will work closely with Investment Operations and deal teams for questions related to ABF on long financing, reviewing reporting, and mitigating risk.
Investment Team Coordination: Coordinate with the investment team to understand liquidity and margin changes to the portfolio. Proactively manage the impact on the funds’ liquidity and leverage facilities
Process Control and Optimization: Develop a deep understanding of investment operations to establish control processes around financing rates. Collaborate with the team to streamline both new and existing processes, aiming to minimize upstream and downstream risks at Prime Brokers or other related financing functions.
Broker Relationship Management: Manage Apollo’s Prime Broker relationships, conducting annual and quarterly reviews. Address ongoing service needs in collaboration with the Middle Office, explore new business opportunities, negotiate rates, and onboard new prime brokers. Additionally, develop a structured approach to wallet analysis and coordinate with the Front Office to manage data and operational themes for sell-side relationships This will also include:
FCM Management: Partner with Risk and Operations teams to manage FCM relationships; working directly with FCMs on trading-related activities, including clearing.
Strategic Financing Projects: Lead new strategic liquid financing projects for Enterprise Solutions, such as Repo trading, Agency Lending, Securities Lending, and ISG initiatives.
Vendor Engagement: Collaborate with Investment Operations on vendor engagement for portfolio finance functions, including partnerships with Kayenta and Cassini.
Qualifications & Experience
10+ years of experience with a bank or hedge-fund with intimate knowledge of fund financing dynamics (Sec Lending, Stock loan, Repo, and Asset Based Financing)
Strong existing relationships at tier 1 banks across prime brokerage and other financing desks
Experience with bank regulatory metrics, bank funding structures and costs, calculation of RWA, ROA and similar metrics, and net revenue components.
Experience managing counterparty & vendor relationships, especially focused on fixed income products
Exceptional process management skills and strong attention to detail.
Strong communication skills in order to effectively communicate across groups, including trading, middle office, operations, technology and finance
Pay Range

The base salary range for this position is listed above. This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus based on personal, team, and Firm performance. Compensation ranges are based on several factors including job function, level, and geographic location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed here.
