What you will do
The Power Electronics Design Engineer is a design and development role within the Advanced Battery Core Electronics Team that reports directly to the Global Electronics Engineering Manager. This important role provides technical solutions within in a team environment to design and develop power electronic circuits and components as part of the Battery Management System (BMS) that goes into Clarios’ new generation of lithium-ion batteries. The electronic BMS is critical to the performance and safety of the battery. As a member of this
team, you will be exposed to the latest in BMS technology and contribute to developing “best-in-class” electronic battery controls.

How will you do it

  • Design high-efficiency power circuits & architectures (schematic/PCB in Altium Designer) to improve performance, safety, and reliability of power electronics systems.

  • Develop bidirectional DCDC converters, including component selection (controllers, MOSFETs, inductors), circuit analysis/simulation, and optimization of input filters, busbars, and relays.

  • Ensure thermal/EMC compliance through robust design of thermal management systems, shielding, and layout optimization to meet industry standards.

  • Execute validation testing (high-current/power characterization, root-cause analysis) and prepare documentation (DFMEA, test plans/reports) for product certification.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with software, mechanical, and production teams to integrate power electronics into battery systems and manufacturing processes.

  • Support lab development, prototype testing, and automotive safety certification while adhering to project timelines and deliverables.

What we look for:

Required:

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
5+ years of professional experience in circuit level power electronics design and development
Proficient with Altium Designer and simulation tools
Experience in taking power electronics from concept to production
Experience with isolated and non-isolated circuit topologies and control techniques.

Experience with soft-switching and resonant topologies

Preferred:
Master of Science in power electronics
Magnetic component design experience
Experience with automotive product development and qualification
Experience with EMI noise mitigation
Experience with GAN and SiC power components and high precision analog design
