We have an exciting, new hybrid opportunity as a Quality Assurance / Operations Consultant supporting both Enthalpy Analytical and Operations. This position provides strategic leadership and supports in oversight for the laboratory, business development specific to the Department of Energy, and operations supporting data validation, quality control, standard operating procedure enhancements for data collection, and UFP-QAPP development for our clients.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

As Quality Assurance / Operations Consultant, you will lead a strong team of committed professionals. This role will be responsible for a full range of activities including:

  • Provide leadership and strategic direction for laboratory quality assurance and compliance programs.

  • Enhance internal and external laboratory audits practices, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, including DoD, ISO, EPA, and state/federal guidelines.

  • Liaison with QA leadership to enhance, implement, and optimize laboratory quality management systems (QMS) to improve efficiency and accuracy.

  • Lead the PFAS accreditation strategy, including prioritization, cost analysis, and ROI assessments, while ensuring compliance with evolving regulatory requirements.

  • Identify and mitigate potential audit risks, developing proactive solutions to ensure laboratory compliance and accreditation success.

  • Mentor and develop quality assurance staff, fostering professional growth and strengthening the laboratory’s quality culture.

  • Improve risk profile and develop plans for mitigating business and operational risks.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including laboratory management, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders, to ensure seamless integration of quality processes.

  • Stay informed of emerging regulations and industry best practices to continuously improve laboratory quality and compliance frameworks. Develop framework for effectively communicating guideline and standards changes.

  • Enhancing worksheets, work instructions, and practices for internal and external lab audits, identifying and mitigating potential compliance risks, and collaborate with QA leaders for ensuring continual improvement of quality processes.

  • Partner with leadership on reviewing current risk profile, ensuring its completeness, and enhancing this process.

  • Serve as a mentor to quality assurance staff, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and excellence in laboratory practices.

Additionally, you will be supporting the Environmental Consulting and Engineering Practice by:

  • Mentoring the in-house data validation Team. -

  • Supporting Senior Technical Review of Sampling and Analysis Plans and UFP-QAPPs.

  • Supporting the enhancement of existing Standard Operating Procedures to optimize existing data collection processes.

  • Develop strategy and executable plans to grow our business with the Department of Energy providing guidance to senior leaders across Montrose including the development of relationships.

  • Enhance delivery of Montrose benefits to the Department of Energy, USACE, and the DoD by ensuring strategies and work plans of program components are responsively adapted to outcomes and changes in federal strategy.

This role requires a high level of leadership, strategic thinking, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and technical expertise, ensuring that the laboratory maintains compliance while driving continuous quality improvements. By proactively identifying audit risks and implementing robust quality controls, the Consultant will safeguard the laboratory’s reputation, help ensure operational efficiency and maintain the highest standards of scientific integrity while building new business development initiatives.

YOUR EXPERTISE AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, or other related science field.

  • Minimum 15 years of relevant experience, or combination of consulting and Quality Assurance Leadership

  • Familiarity with DoD, ISO (9001/17025), EPA, and federal/state regulations.

  • Experience in managing multiple clients and projects

  • Strong Business Development & Program Management

  • Strategic thinker and leader.

  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
