As a Reclamation Contract Agent, you will join our Elk Valley, British Columbia office as part of our Environmental Sciences and Planning team. A Contract Agent is the person that is designated and responsible for monitoring or supervising the work of a contractor for reclamation programs on the coal mine site. Reclamation programs to be supported include but are not limited to contouring, site preparation, soil placement, hydro-seeding, broadcast seeding, planning, seed collection, reclamation monitoring, invasive plant management, and fencing.
The successful applicant will be involved in a broad range of Projects with responsibilities as follows:
Day-to-day planning of the field implementation of the projects
Collaborate with various departments at the mine site and multi-disciplinary contractors to support the execution of the reclamation program work
Will directly report to and be supervised by the Reclamation Coordinator for on site activities/day-to-day work.
Additional highlights of tasks and responsibilities:
Supervise reclamation activities including contouring, site preparation, soil placement, seeding, planting, and invasive plant management.
Ensure contractor compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
Coordinate with various departments and contractors for daily planning and implementation of field projects.
Provide information on work area hazards, emergency response contacts, and site-specific procedures to contractors.
Confirm that contractor personnel are properly trained and adhere to site-specific orientations and safety procedures.
Monitor project progress, ensuring quality, cost, and schedule adherence.
Report to Reclamation and Contract Managers, providing regular updates on project status
Preferred Skills/ Experience:
Experience in land survey methods and project supervision in reclamation or similar fields
Familiarity with mining operations and safety culture
Experience with Fieldmaps and environmental data management
Strong leadership, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills

This is a permanent position with a hourly rate range of $30.00-$45.00, starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience and work location.
